Considering purchasing a budget Commander Size 1911 to simply have a 1911 in the collection and to see if I like 1911s enough to invest in a higher end version.

what are the 1911 aficionados opinion of the Tisas imported by SDS? I was thinking specifically of these two odels.

SDS Imports 1911 Carry Pistol-45 ACP For Sale - AtlanticFirearms.com

or

Tisas B45R Semi-Automatic 1911 Pistol 4.25" Barrel .45ACP 8rd - Black Cerakote W/ Accessory Rail

I am also considering a not so budget friendly SA EMP Lighweight Champion. know not a true 1911 as it has been scaled down, but I like the look of them and the current generation seems to get good reviews.

Springfield Armory PI9211L 1911 EMP Champion 9mm Luger 4' 10+1 Black Hardcoat Anodized Stainless Steel Slide Crossed Cannon Cocobolo Grip

Or just keep looking for a SA Range Officer Champion in 9mm or .45. So many choices…

Your input is appreciated.

IF you are starting out, I'd go RIA and I've owned and still own all sorts of 1911s.

I recommend watching this video from Chambers Custom. For reference, if you order one of his guns it's gonna cost you about $7000. So he's just calling it like he sees it because he's definitely not selling these guns.

That's pretty decent praises for the RIA.

Do not forget to check the used market. Very nice 1911s which are older can be found for “reasonable” prices in today’s standards. I would always suggest looking at older, used pieces. You can save a lot of money, get a nicer piece, and possibly find something that is very near new or at least in very good condition.

None of the three are what you'd call custom or super expensive but I have and shoot pretty regular a Ruger SR1911, Springfield Armory Mil-Spec and a S & W 'E' Series........all are stainless, 5", chambered in 45 ACP, function as they should and are good shooters.

If I had to give up two and only keep one (God forbid) I'd probably lean towards the S & W 'E' Series........even when I'm having a off day I just seem to shoot it a tad better.

I'm starting to see Springfield Garrisons pop up on the used market. They are 750-800 new. Might do some searching for one of the blued models.

I love mine. Accurate, 100% reliable so far and very well made.

I had considered a Garrison or the new Operator, but I am really looking for a Commander sized 1911. Started looking at the Dan Wesson Vigil Commanders. They have a lot of the features I am interested at a reasonable price. Such a rabbit hole when you start looking at all the options.

There is one from Israeli maker is listed as BUL Armory.
Don't know where they are in stock but photos on the web show they have both full size and commander size stainless steel guns.
