We have moved, so I wanted to change the address on my DL. You can change it on line, but if you want the actual DL to match the recorded address, (like when filling out a 4473, for example) you must go to a Tag Agent. Walked into my local agent's office and was told to come back at 9:00 in the morning, and they would only take the first 25.

I know there was a rush for the "Real ID", but are they just overwhelmed to the point that they no longer need the business?

It’s crazy! Probably have to get there around 7 in the morning to be one of the first 25. There used to be no wait time at my small town tag agency, but they’re the busiest spot in town now.

So glad I live in a small rural town. Our tag agent is great, he was still allowing walk ins and first come first serve. The only problem was that people in the surrounding towns where you had to have an appointment found out they would come to him. Made long lines a few times, but he would stay later if needed.

Here, but occasionally There.
We "walked in" at the DPS office up near NE 36th and MLK Blvd some time back. It might have cost us as much as 2 to 2 1/2 hours to get the Real ID done.

If you are just doing a regular with change of address, it should be about the same length of time, depending on how many are there for licenses. Real ID only requires them to look at and maybe copy such things as birth certificates, marriage licenses, and divorce decrees. (Those last two primarily for the ladies.)

I did my change of address and new license request completely online. I submitted my change of address request and gave it 3-4 weeks. Then I requested a duplicate driver license where it asked me to fill out my name and address as I wanted it to appear. Snapped some photos against a neutral wall in our bathroom and uploaded them. I got the replacement license in the mail 8-10 weeks later. I went through it last spring when everyone required appointments and waiting in the parking lot for your name to be called. It was a HUGE hassle but better than losing a day of my life dealing with it in person in the middle of the plandemic nonsense.

ETA: My CCW license was less of a pain but we have a notary in the family and it only took 2-3 weeks to get my replacement in the mail for that.

I renewed my license early, took 8 business days to get in the mail, real ID. Walked into tag agent, walked out, took maybe 10 minutes. Got lucky I guess.

Day, time and location matter.

Some are better than others.
Some are busier than others.
Teen driver tests are scheduled for 1 days. You go in, too bad, not getting service.
Truck driving schools make all say spots. Nothing else happens on that say.

The office on I-240, near Western, was a to location. In and put quickly, fast and courteous.
