I’ve seen enough fully retired, double-dippin vets driving new Escalades not to really give a sh*t if they don’t get a 10% discount off a toilet and pack of light bulbs
Most of us never ask for a discount, we sure didn’t join for your concern or a discount of any kind but it’s nice when offered to those who can use it and have earned it.

I don’t ask for a discount either. Earned it? Who goes in the military to earn a discount? I sure didn’t. I don’t disaparage those that need and use it though. Like I said, I dont give a ****

That isn't an Escalade. It is a 16 year old Dodge Caravan with the check engine light on, and it needs to last me at least another 5 years!!! And my VA card says Service Connected. And anything I get now is something I should have gotten over 50 years ago.
Now that is a proper response. Let me know if that sucker ever breaks down on the side of the road, I’ll come get you

I rarely, if ever, openly ask for a military discount. But I look at it this way.

If I owned a company I'd rather have a new customer who gets a 10% discount than not have a new customer. Companies offer that for a reason. It's good PR, it's good marketing and it makes financial sense. If a company offers I'm gonna take a discount.

ETA: It's no different than restaurants that offer a senior discount.

So they’re really still making money off the vets, it’s good business for them, and they’re “not realllly” doing it because it’s the patriotic thing to do, it’s because they can wrap themselves in a flag and make money

Of course they're still making money...every time they sell something. That's the point of having a business. I suppose every company owner has reasons for doing it. Wrapping themselves in the flag seems to work these days. Just ask the guys at BRCC. They've somehow made a success out of selling overpriced, mediocre coffee because they make cool videos of 'operator' stuff.

I don't know how old you are, but I can guarantee you vets have it better today than they did in the last half of the 60s and most of the 70s in terms of public support. Even most people on the left pretend to respect vets these days. You don't have to like it...I don't have to like it.

Website is a nightmare, for me anyway. Cashier told me it would be easier if I used the app. Reached into my pocket, showed my retired ID, put it back in my pocket, asked if that was slower then him scanning an app. My wife thought he missed the sarcasm in my voice. If they weren't the only game in town, I'd take my marbles elsewhere.

6 pages to complain about how Home Depot is simply using an APP instead of IDs to give Veterans the same 10% discount in order to prevent non-military from fraudulently claiming said discount?

Dang, some people will complain about anything, lol
