Well Silencer Shop 'finally' got the certification ready on my can that I purchased in December. Apparently there were some technical issues getting everything set up and ready to go between their systems and the new ATF system. I got the notification last night that my paperwork had been fully reviewed and certified as accurate, and was now ready to submit through ATF's new eFile system.

I had to run up to the dealer today and enter my username and pin number I created when setting up my ATF eForms account. The submission was sent as of today, and I got an automated email from the ATF showing the form 4 as SUBMITTED/IN PROGRESS.

I thought it might be interesting to see if they hold true to their 90 day approval estimate. With today being January 15th, ninety days from now will be Friday, April 15th.

The wait begins.

I'm happy for you . . . but I submitted paperwork for one back in July and my paperwork is supposedly still being reviewed. So hopefully all of us who submitted prior to eforms going live have to wait longer . . . . grrrr.

Heck, maybe we'll get ours at about the same time. :hithead:

Yeah, apparently any of them submitted to ATF before sometime in November are still going through the analog process. I read somewhere that Silencer Shop, and I'm assuming others, have been holding off on submitting new form 4's since sometime in November until this new system was ready to go live. I also read that ATF is telling people who have paper submissions pending to NOT recall them and submit them digitally, as they will lose their current place in line and likely add a year wait to the process. Best of luck to you. Hopefully you've only got a few months to go. If you submitted in July, we might be getting our approvals around the same time.

Mine were purchased in Nov, a total of 9 days apart. 2 are on paper forms, they are filing the one on bought on nov 14, the 3rd. Still waiting on the to submit that one via efile. (All bought through SilencerShop). So far, can’t say I’m impressed with silencershops organizational skills around this, much less their communication.

I agree with you on that. I was very proactive contacting them trying to get updates. They also still haven’t sent me the email they said they were going to when it got certified. When the status automatically updated I took it upon myself to make arrangements with the dealer to finish the submission.

One thing of note for your electronic filing, all of the literature I’ve read from SilencerShop references making sure that your email address, name, etc. match on both the ATF and silencer shop accounts. It also tells you that you will need your pin number when certifying with the dealer. What it does not tell you is that you will also need the ATF username for the account you created. Make sure you have that handy, along with your pin number, when you do finally certify. It never once asked for my ATF account email address. The certification process only wants your username and pin number.

Same here, by the time they sent my "Ready to Certify" email, my dealer (whos pretty dang proactive) already had called me and told me to come in the next morning to certify and submit. ALLEGEDLY those of us on the front end could see efile Form 1 return times, my last efile form 1 took 29 days from check cashed notification, but we shall see:coffee2:

If, big IF, eforms are handled in the same order as paper forms, then it won’t be 90 days. That’s bull. Most of us have been waiting much longer than that. I’ve got three I’m waiting on since last March. If someone gets an eform back before someone who has been waiting a year at that point, then there’s going to be some righteous anger and disappointment.

That's where I foresee problems, IDEALLY the ATF would've merged the paper forms in current que before opening eforms to new submissions, but they would never do that because it makes to much sense.

I went to my dealer here in Shawnee and he filed one the other day and got the 90 approval time. Hopefully it is that fast. However, I am still trying to decide on buying a commercial can or just making another one through Quiet Bore. I really like the 9mm can I made. It works great and don’t cost much. Plus it’s user serviceable. Many of the commercial cans are not. My dealer had a YHM R9 that is a multi caliber can. It is $450. It’s supposed to knock .308 down to almost 130 decibels. 9mm is about 127 and 300 blackout was around 132. I don’t shoot much of my AK or AR’s because I don’t want to use the ammo. And I know 556 don’t suppress that great anyway. I’m pretty much leaning into making another form one with quiet bore. I’ll probably get the .30 caliber can so I can use it on my AK and AR’s. I don’t see the need to pay all that money for a commercial can when I can make one myself for under $650. And it’s a user serviceable can. My last form 1 which was in August took 12 days to approve.

So I was told that back a year and half ago, when they started expediting those that had multiple in the system, that people started calling and complaining and they shut it down. Hope this doesn't happen again.
