Here, but occasionally There.
If someone doesn't think the government isn't running health care, then explain to me how it is that the federal government is trying to limit Monoclonal Antibody Infusion materials from red states. Also, supposedly the federal government is going to send out millions of test kits and millions of good grade masks.

Why the heck is the government having anything to do with controlling any of those products?

If the government cannot even run the Veteran's Administration, what is there about that to show they can run the country as a whole healthcare system?
Right Answer.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is exactly what you get when we all sit on our collective azzes and let the government take over every facet of our lives.

I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised with the care the VA has given my Dad. It may be an anomaly….Worse experiences I’ve seen and had has been a hospital on N. Portland.

I didn't say the price couldn't be lowered. I implied if the price is lowered, that quality will suffer. Ever heard of you get what you pay for or nothing is really free?

What you consider fare and what the costs actually are seem to be miles apart. Fare is subjective, what a poor person or a person on the other end of the spectrum think "fare" is are two different things.

And I disagree. What if tomorrow your favorite restaurant increased their price by 30% but paid their workers the same wage, paid the same price for food and supplies, and paid the same for building expenses. Would the quality of your service increase? No, because the prices were inflated simply to make a higher profit. The difference is you cannot shop around for a hospital that has lower prices when taken by ambulance. And since hospital costs are not regulated how can you determine if the price is fair?

Can you tell me why the average stay at a hospital is over 11k? Why the ride in an ambulance costs up 1K? If not then you can not said their prices are fair anymore than I can.

Plain and simple the medical industry fails to have any motive to keep their prices low, a key component to capitalism. Why do you think needed utilities (well, needed per say) like electric, water and gas are regulated? Shouldn't they be free to charge whatever they want as well? I'm sorry, but without competition and/or regulation, there is no protection from people getting fleeced.

Yes, but not wrong, and still wouldn’t fix anything. Large corps are as bad as the gov, as the are bureaucratic messes too.
100%. I know it has capped my earning potential, but I have worked for a few of them and have sworn no more. I made the move to a smaller midstream company now and it is a world of difference in effectiveness and efficiency. Williams was my first exposure to it and Targa was no better. I won't make that mistake again.

It's absolutely wrong...... from a 10,000 ft view people MIGHT be able to compare but it's honestly apples to oranges. You also don't debate/argue a subject by changing the subject and pointing a finger elsewhere. Which is why that fallacy exists.

You do realize it's .gov regulation driving the price up, right? I know you don't get the allocated cost of overhead concept, but when a hospital is required to do more work, like file government documents, report statistics, hire based on equality and not competency, meet regulations, and any other extra work, that will drive up the cost of an aspirin. Not necessarily profit. The idea you are expressing that because the hospital charges more it’s profit and that is what you (we) don’t know.. It is likely to cover extra costs.

And like was mentioned earlier, some hospitals are already a not for profit.
