I remember thinking for a while a Tokarev (or even better one of the PPS-43 pistol conversions) would be a very safe truck gun. Take the mag with you, I almost guarantee no methhead is going to be able source mags or ammo.

I’ve met two men who changed their last names. Both of them said they they were ashamed of their fathers and wanted nothing more to do with them.

The way the newer vehicles are constructed (more plastic than metal) makes it difficult to secure a gun effectively. Neither of mine even have a locking glove compartment.

My son finally got through the process of changing his last name to separate from his bio dad. He took my name, which felt like a pretty big deal to me. He could've just as easily chosen his mom's maiden name as a reasonable alternative.

I think it is Gun Vault that makes some inserts for a lot of center consoles to add a locking steel box mounted to the floor.

It blows my mind how many people leave guns in vehicles...unlocked!

A while back I took a report from a fella who left his custom 300 blackout bolt rifle (w/ Nightforce scope) and 500 rounds of fancy ammo in his unlocked truck...after his neighbor lost a SKS out of his truck the night before. He'd been out late hunting pigs, and decided to bring his gear inside in the morning, against his wife's protests.

A week or so after that, I caught an auto burglar in the act with a bunch of stolen property from earlier in the evening...including a mid-70's production custom engraved 4" nickel Colt Python. The elderly widow of a retired Texas trooper had left his retirement present under the seat of her minivan, wrapped in a towel.

Automobiles don’t offer much in terms of security for valuables, but people never the less leave items of considerable value inside vehicles all the time. There’s no argument that you don’t have a right to be armed or carry while in your vehicle. What seems to be up for debate is whether or not you have a responsibility to prevent unauthorized access to your firearms when they aren’t in your physical possession. I’m of the seemly minority opinion around here that automobiles should only offer temporary storage of firearms when you cannot be in physical control of the firearm.
