I have 2 specials. A 24-3, 3” don’t know if it’s a lew Horton or not. Got the fancy finger groove grips though. I just know it is wonderful and shoots fantastic. Loves cast book it’s. The other is a Taurus, 431 blue 3”. Sweet gun. Shoots good with cast and gold dots. Reload for both.

I am almost positive your three inch 24-3 is a Lew Horton commission revolver.

You can post that question along with a photo however on Smith-WessonFoum . Com (not going to look in case it breaks a rule here) and several extremely knowledgeable guys will answer within a few hours.

I bought an Interarms .44 mag back in the 80's. Beautiful pistol in stainless but I had to run the back sight to the max to get a zero.
Finally realized the barrel wasn't in line. I was going to send it in for repair, but it was stolen in a home burglary before that happened so someone else gets that chore.
I can’t stand a thief. I am sorry. I lost a beautiful hand carved stock by my father, for a 1903 Springfield and a vintage night night scope to a theft. Scope was for total darkness. Street lights or suburban lighting at night was even too much. I bet they were shocked when they took the caps off and burned it up/out after a few hour of light. Oh well. Yeah, they took the scope and left the case. What dummies….

I have a model 29 I think with a 6” bbl. It’s a mag but I often shoot specials through it. I like to give people 5 specials and one mag for the 6th round.
There is a lot of variables to that, because of factory loads and hand loads.

And the multitude of possibilities in the handload spectrum!

A Elmer Kieth 44 special load, just might seem the same as a say a winchester factory 240gn 44magnum!

Now a downloaded 44 special and a max load of say h110 / win296 or even some AA#9 in a magnum will be a real eye opener! 😁

shooting a few specials (38 or 44)through a Magnum,(38 or 44)is ok but as some have said just reload your Magnum cases down to a special level..now if you want to shoot a lot of specials (38 or 44)through a revolver then get one in special,(38 or 44),, i read old gun books and a story goes of a young hunter bought a .357 Python 8 3/8 off a old man who shot it a lot in competion,he used .38 special cases,, well the new owner went deer hunting with Magnum ammo, bagged a deer with 2 quick shots,, went to unload Python and the 2 fired cases refused to leave the cylinder, took a gun smith to remove said cases,,gunsmith looks in cylinder ,,cleans and lightly hones cylinder out,,and then tells the new owner he now owns a .38 special Python,,the old man fired WAY TOO many special cases through the Python and it flamed cut the cylinder just like the .357 magnum ammo did,, but at 1/10 an inch longer ,because the special case is 1/10 inch shorter than the Magnum case, when the new owner fired Magnum ammo bagging a deer, the magnum cases expanded in to that 1/10 inch area of the cylinder that was flamed cut by all those special cases fired by the old man,,,the 2 fired magnum cases would not contract enough to be removed after firing, so,,,,just use this as an excuse to get a revolver in .38 or 44 Special,,,,or to get into reloading so you can down load your Magnum cases to special level..

I had a pair of Charter Arms Bulldogs back in the day. I wish I still had them.
I had a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog back in the mid-70s. The guy I bought it from told me he had to give my name to the FBI because of the "son-of-Sam" killings going on at the time. Kind of spooked me as a kid...

Sorry to hear about the theft.
Fortunately, the gun insurance paid really well. When finished buying new to replace the stolen guns, I didn't have as many but the quality of the firearms increased. The replacement for the Interarms was a Ruger Stainless Super Redhawk of course in .44 mag.

I have a interarms Virginian dragoon 44 mag, fixed sights, 5 inch barrel, or I had one. My daughter decided it is hers. It is heavy. Soaks up recoil up really nice. It’s blue. Might not be worth much, but I like it or I liked it, and she really likes it. It speaks with authority.
