And on that note I do a buttload of driving to all corners for work, landmark pictures will start at $5 a pop, $10 for ones without toes in them.

I do like this idea though, requiring some type of photo proof maybe with a date or time stamp so they can’t pull crap from Google. It could be faked but it would take more effort than most of them want to invest
Toes in the pic are first sign of a legit okie

There are a bunch of really good folks here. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting several during buying or selling events and have never had a poor outcome, but I have tried to use the feedback system and the member stats that are available to us. I know some of you have had some bad experiences, so I will be happy to follow whatever the powers that be come up with as a solution. I enjoy this group too much to see anyone leave because of bad experiences with no improvement.

Seems like if enough request some kind of limitation to view/participate in the classifieds before supporting the site, the owner may be willing to accomodate.
That’s kinda why I’m holding out. I have no desire to pay to see 25% spam and garbage. I could go pay for a membership over at predator masters or long range hunting and get a lot more for it. My advertising dollars would go further too.

I agree whole heart about a bunch of quality folks here. Many that I call friends. It disappoints me when I see quality folks lose money on a scam. Some members aren't as savvy with recognizing scams or malicious intent as others. I fear one of our quality members will lose more than monetary value in a transaction at some point and that bothers me more than less participation here.

To the owner and mods, there's a reason Armslist and others are requiring more information or a paid subscription. It helps weed out the scammers/shady ones. With no barrier, we are the craigslist of arms classifieds and it shows. To be honest with you, I've had better luck listing on armslist than here, pains me to say that but it's true.

Either way, it's my opinion that some kind of barrier be put up. I've been a long time fan of a post count entry barrier and I'm not so sure it shouldn't be as hight as 500. JMO.

Just a few thoughts in opposition here:
1. What if somebody is just looking to sell one of their guns, and they don’t want to sit around and post a hundred things or sign up to be a seller on Armslist instead? Maybe they don’t want to go through an FFL, as you would do on Gunbroker?

2. Also, what if they don’t want to put a picture of themselves on this forum? I certainly wouldn’t, and I don’t often see people posting pictures of themselves on here.

3. I only come on here to check things occasionally. I am very much a real person, I just don’t live for the online forums.

Take all of this with a grain of salt, I have absolutely no cards in this game, I just want to stimulate debate. I also don’t know anything about selling, so forgive me if my points are irrelevant or silly.

Peter your points are neither irrelevant or silly.

1. Another venue is to take it/them to a gun show. There are other venues. Some people just take them to a gun shop or pawn shop. There are other options aside from an enthusiast site.

2. I understood multiple picture ideas being floated. I would not post a picture of myself either. I would put something into the photo to show the date posting, item, other information to show I am not a bot.

3. Some of us spend far too much time online and others do not. Some of us need this interaction as an easier way to reach other humans. Some of us only need an occasional fix.

thought, if you did not post your phone number then it would be more difficult for the scammers to reach you. People would have to start communications via PM. This would allow you a moment to research to person before you reply or decide to ignore.

Don't take this the wrong way but I'm willing to lose the people that only come here to browse the classifieds, to allow for a bit more of a community classifieds....... in the end.... what have we lost?
