Here, but occasionally There.
We've some kind of operation going fairly near to us that is pretty darn noisy. I finally found the source of the noise and took some pictures of all the equipment around the site. I've basically got two questions:

1. What is it that they are doing, and,
2. How long does such an operation take for completion.

(We are really looking forward to the "suspension" of the noise.)

One can click on each image and see it at my Smugmug site, which will give one a much larger photo to look at.

They are frac’ing the well. Length of time it will take depends on the length of the lateral (underground well bore) and how many stages. Also depends on how big the ”frac” is (how much sand, water, etc is pumped per stage).
Looks like only one well head, so I guess the frac job will be done within 5-7 days and then they will bring in a workover rig to drill out frac plugs and likely run production tubing.

Yep wireline crew and frac. Wireline shoots the perforation guns and runs the pressure control most of the time. Crane operator ran pressure control when I was operating the crane. Wireline sets the plug and shoots y guns. Some companies use coil tubing to drill out plugs afterwards. I used to build perforation guns.

Stage frac, usually in thick formations such as the Mississippi lime. Cast iron bridge plug, frac, drill the plug and repeat. I HATED these, not because they were hard, they just took several days and once you start, you don't stop.

I think that is along the turnpike spur heading to Norman. It has been going on for a lot longer than I was expecting.
If this is a newly drilled well, there would have been a drilling rig out there for anywhere from 30-60 days (again depending on vertical depth of well and how long the horizontal lateral is) prior to the operations taking place now. What is going on now (the “frac”) is the completion stage of the well - next will be production stage.
