2nd vote for Oticon. I just went from batteries to rechargeable and get nowhere the life that HoLeChit mentions. I think mine would last about 24hrs total use(being turned on). I charge them every night. I use Hearing Life and partially covered by my work insurance. I think they were around $5000 and my part was $1500.

I've heard good things about CostCo and trying to get my mom to go there for a thorough hearing exam.

I've been putting it off for so long, this post went and made me go schedule an appt. at Costco! We'll see how it goes.!!

PS: they are a few weeks out on appts. Must be popular right now!

I have Oticon and have been happy with them. I use the Oklahoma Hearing Center in Norman. Excellent people and service. Some Insurance covers them and some policies do not.

Wife went there also and really liked her rechargable aids. Problem is she hardly ever wears them. Her ins paid part of 'em.

I’ve got some, really hate that I had to get them but life rolls on.

I wear the Resound and they are pretty good I guess, never had any before these. They are rechargeable, over the ear, have had them 2-21/2 years never had any trouble wit them.

I got them from Pro Hearing in OKC I believe.

I don't have em' but with all the shooting I did as a kid when no one wore (or heard of) hearing protection combined with all the concerts I went to, I probably should get them. However, if I got hearing aids how would I ever be able to tell my wife I never heard her say _________ fill in blank. 🤷‍♂️

I have a pair of Phonak aids from the VA, they say they cost around $2,500 each on the market. I have Blue Tooth on them and don't have to hold the phone to my ear to hear the person calling. If I'm in the garage and cell phone rings in the house, I can hear the call or the wife clicking on the phone.

I have oticon opn. the brand and what you need is highly also depending on how bad your hearing is. I go to Eastern OKlahoma ear nose and throat in Tulsa-- my mother went some where else- not near the warranty and service fyi..

I have 3 year warranty- and then at 2 years 9 months or so i send in for free cleaning- they send back whole new set free...

but---- 6500 or so this last time and insurance pays very little.(i am not on medicare yet)
my mom is on medicare and think they paid about 250 or so.. minimal as well.

My insurance as well will pay for certain ones in whole ( on line stuff), but that wont work for me, as i think medicare will on some.. again goes back to what you need.

the bluetooth capabilities to me is super cool, ( with most major brands) -if i am miraculously cured of my hearing, i will keep my aids for talking on the phone :-)

my main suggestion, don't go to a non specialist to get your hearing aids unless your hearing is not that bad, or the aids are free or you simply cannot afford it.
Then if it doesn't work you can go back to a specialist and do it right with no loss of $ or little from erring on trying to get by with less cost.

Again, recommendations w/o knowing hearing loss ? not sure, but i cna say i have tried phonak and widex, and have had oticon for 8 -10 years.

Medicare said they would NOT pay for aids. One thing the audiologist at the Hough Institute told me was not to buy any that is advertised. I have never heard of the Phonak I have advertised or the Resounds, the first one I had. Mine are rechargeable, last between 10-12 hours (I listen to a lot of audio books when not working)
