I just have to wonder just how many people will lose their homes or business because of the routes proposed?
Just talked to my sister-in-law, going to take her 5 acres if it goes through. Her and my brother have lived there 47 years, lost my brother last April. Been telling her she needs to liquidate a LOT of tools/equipment my brother had accumulated over the years. He had retired from GM as a millwright.

I just acquired some land out east and was working on plans to build our family's dream house. Now that there will be a turnpike next-door my wife is inconsolable and wants to sell. My grandfathers old property and all their neighbors I know will loose their homes as well. I have two friends whos parents will loose their homes. AND now they want to redo I35 which means my current home is endangered. They must pay everyone pre-proposal market value plus relocations cost or its plain immoral.

Most of the stories I've heard about property acquisition indicate OTA pays fair market value for land. The issue has been the folks that think their 3 acres is worth more than market value.
We all own at least one thing that is worth much more than market value in sentimental money.
Why is that so hard to believe about land and homesteads?
Now, me personally, I wouldn't take market value for my home, which is nowhere near this expansion. Would I take 150% of value? Probably. 200%? Most likely. Are there certain things I own that there's no way in hell I'd sell for 200% of market value? Absolutely. So I can understand why people would feel that way about the family farm.

My dad's last daily driver before he passed is sitting in my garage. I wouldn't sell it for triple current covid markup market value.

Oklahoma has set itself up to bring people from other states. While we pride ourselves on being in the top 10 for affordable states, etc. Other state inhabitants took notice and moved here during covid. Traffic is terrible, these are all costs of expansion and explosion in our population. It's a must to be able to survive as a state. Personally, I think it should be Federally mandated that to condemn and buy a property the state must pay 1.5 x market value, plus move expenses.

I'm not sure where you get the idea that "it's a must to survive as a state".

Personally it chaps my ass the mentality we have these days. That we have to grow our population and cities to be called "successful". I get it to an extent but all our local and state leaders seem to want to impersonate NYC or something. It's maddening. The more "successful" they are the worse traffic, crime, taxes and all the rest gets. We got by just fine in the '60s and '70s if you ask me. I like me a quiet sleepy town but our leaders don't. Someone needs to tell them they can move to LA, NYC and any other instead of recreating all that nonsense here.
