Yup. Keep your carry/home defense firearms to factory specs. Because protocal after a shooting, is to seize your weapon as evidence.

The DA as well as defense attorneys have access to your weapon to go over it with a fine toothed comb. And if they see any type of alteration, they can convince a jury of your peers that you made your firearm "more lethal" by installing an aftermarket trigger or whatever.

Remember guys, keep the modified race guns in the safe. A purdy custom altered gun is what you show your friends. An ugly poly pistol, is what you show your enemies.

And remember that if you use a factory terribly inaccurate firearm loaded with FMJ bullets that may not hit your target as good as your modified firearm for defense you could be accused of trying to horrifically cause an intruder to live out their life in pain and suffer for the rest of their life. The MORE LETHAL thing is debunked with less likely to not hit my target and hit something i didn't intend to hit.. Thats like saying I only use a factory 380 fmj factory ammo so in case I make a mistake in a self defense shooting I wont be held as accountable because i use less lethal.

I know this won’t settle caliber and capacity debates…

It’s just a good reminder with some statistical analysis from real life articles out of an NRA publication that having a gun, knowing how to use it, and being ready to use it is enough.

Sure we can dream of nightmare scenarios where an armed gang of criminal thugs storms our house with malicious intent. In which our high capacity service pistol with duty ammunition is going to get us to our Ma Deuce to wipe our those evil scum that don’t deserve to see the light of day, but that’s highly unlikely.

They’re handguns and the with few notable exceptions like 25ACP, they just poke little holes in people. Also, I’d bet that most people aren’t backing up their pea shooter with a carbine or is there any evidence that it would even be necessary.

Unless it's a CNS hit the person that is shot decides when to stop fighting. Some people pass out at just the sight of blood while others keep fighting until blood loss causes unconsciousness, there is no predictor of either and is an unknown until it happens. In the book "Street Survival" published by Calibre Press 1980 on page 215 there picture of a liquor store robber who took 33 rounds of 9mm before becoming incapacitated. The book also states that nearly 20 percent of the time people who are shot with one round will not be immediately incapacitated even though it is a fatal injury and 13 percent will remain active for as long as 5 minutes. Not long ago there was video of a store clerk that shot a robber one time and the bad guy face planted. You just never know.

As far what will and will not be used against you at trial, the Prosecutor will use everything so yes, IT, whatever IT maybe will be used against you, you and your attorney will have to convince the jury of the legitimacy of IT.

In the Rittenhouse trial the Prosecutor tried to use Ritterhouse's use of FMJ ammo against him. In the Zimmerman trial the prosecutor tried to use the fact that Zimmerman's pistol had a round chambered against him.

Yes, anything and everything will be used against you. It's up to you how much you give the Prosecutor to use against you and how a jury will perceive it.

I hate to break this to some of you. Not everyone who has a firearm for self-defense wants to kill in defense of themselves or loved ones. Given what we’ve seen happen across the country, a significant number of people look down on even the police using lethal force. I’m not an attorney, but I’d imagine saying you wanted to stop the threat is going to play better in your defense than I wanted to kill my attacker. Yes; stopping the threat might mean that someone dies, but the threat leaving or you leaving can also be a victory.

No sane, honest, decent citizen looks down at any police officer or citizen who appropriately employs lethal force to prevent another person from inflicting serious bodily injury or death on the officer or other innocent persons, or any police officer who employs lethal force against a person whom they know has inflicted serious bodily injury or death on another person and is attempting to escape and thus presents a serious threat to the public. Only those whose intent is directed at undermining the basic principles that garrantee define our nation

I’m pretty sure we have a law against that scenario. Also, it seems like family always comes out to shake the money tree when their deceased family member is killed during some altercation.
That’s because they were a good boy. They would’ve never done that.
