Hello!

My names Alex, I’m 20 and my job requires me to drive a lot and be in a lot of places I’d rather not be unarmed. I don’t ever carry on my body unless I’m on my family’s land, I do keep a shotgun in the car. However, long guns are tricky in tight spaces, and I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on whether or not it’s ok for me to carry a pistol in my car.
I know under the new handgun law passed in November it says it’s legal, but honestly I’d like to know how OHP, OCPD or Tulsa PD would react if I happened to get pulled over for something else unrelated

if any of you are members of any of those departments I’d very much appreciate your input!!

Effective November 1, 2021, Oklahoma law generally authorizes a person who is not otherwise legally prohibited from possessing or purchasing firearms to transport both loaded and unloaded firearms “in or on a vehicle,” provided they are not carrying or transporting the firearm in furtherance of a crime.

OK2A was working to get that changed. Not sure if that was passed or still waiting to be passed
I think that’s why I wasn’t sure. I know when the laws first changed it was prohibited. I’m also not sure what happened with that though. I hope it changed or changes, because criminals will carry them anyway.

My 19 yo grandson was stopped. Simple traffic stop.
Cop asked if he had drugs or weapons in the truck?
He answered "there was an unloaded pistol in the truck."

Cop asked what kind? They talked guns for several minutes. Cop told him he was legal, as long as unloaded and separated from ammo. Then wrote ticket for Failure to Stop.

What’s your employer’s weapon policy? Mine says no weapons while working.
