I moved here to Oklahoma a little over 2 years ago (and love it, BTW!) from northern Idaho. I know most of Oklahoma is very pro-gun. Idaho people are on another level of pro-gun altogether.

In 2018 (I think) near Pocatello in southern Idaho a student was carrying a handgun to school. His sister confronted him about it and he hit her with the gun. When she got to school she reported her brother to the staff. They locked down the school and called law enforcement.

Well, before the police/sheriff's deputies could get there some students texted/called their parents to tell them what was going on. Several parents responded to the school armed with AR-15s, many arriving before law enforcement. One parent arrived carrying a handgun (in his hands...not holstered) and had a confrontation with a State Trooper, I believe.

After the incident the sheriff explained how that might be a bad idea, some of which I agreed with. But many parents told him to piss up a rope...they said if their kids were threatened they weren't gonna wait for the police to take care of the problem. None of the parents were charged...they weren't even told they couldn't do it. The sheriff just explained that it might not be a good idea and could lead to confusion. Personally, I can see both sides but I'd have to lean more towards protecting my kids.

Most people in northern Idaho are even more rabidly pro-gun than they are in the south.
Man that’s awesome. This is the way it should be everywhere. I was watching a show yesterday called “buying big sky”. It was in a Montana. Man it is the most beautiful country I’ve seen. And you could get a big house on a ton of land for not that much. I’m sure Idaho is pretty too. But I love this state and won’t move. But if I was going to, I think that’s where I would go.

I loved Idaho. But after my divorce I wanted to retire. I couldn't afford to buy a place AND retire in Idaho. Not northern Idaho, anyway, and there's where I wanted to stay. So I chose to move here and I couldn't be happier with that decision.

Wife and I are currently visiting relatives in Idaho. The relatives are the wife's cousin and his wife, and the wife is a Filipino. We talked about visiting the northern part of Idaho with them sometime (all of us owning RV's), and they told us that they wouldn't go to northern Idaho. Apparently, a lot of folks up there don't care for foreigners.

I served as a h s counselor in a rural school district for a few yrs prior to retirement. It was 9 miles from the nearest city limits with any law enforcement. The district had a designated male in each building on campus that had a hand gun. I had
moved back to Oklahoma after working in Texas. These folks were some of the finest I ever worked with in 36 yrs of education. They had a district wide master plan for handling firearms issues
