Secret bunker in an undisclosed location.
I generally won't buy power equipment from box stores, lawn mowers, chains saws and such.
I bought my Husqvarna mower and my Stihl chainsaws from a local dealer (Diamond P South of Claremore).
If I need to have them serviced I can take them to that dealer. If you need something serviced that you bought at Atwoods or Lowes you won't be taking them there for service.

you're right about that. Places that sell and service are few and far out here in dirt road Oklahoma.

I remember back when Walmart had a generous return policy. If they had one like it on the shelf, they’d replace it even if you didn’t have a receipt.
Years ago, a friend of mine took something back to Walmart but couldn't find his receipt. Walmart took it back anyway. Later he found the receipt--and it turned out that he hadn't even bought it at Walmart...

I have a 318 and a 317 JD, the engine in the 317 is locked up, the 318 has blown rings, no parts or engine exchanges or change over kits around anywhere I or JD can find.
I'm having to repair a roller in a JD round baler because of parts availability problems. Also, JD green paint price problems--two bearings, four washers, two bolts, and two "dust covers" set me back almost $110; I probably ought to replace the whole thing, but their online catalog only says "contact your dealer" for that.

My dad had to replace one of the pressure rollers a year or two back, and I had to go to P&K's store in Pryor to pick it up. About a month after he got it installed, P&K called to see if he still had it because it turned out to have been the last one in the country, and someone in Pennsylvania was trying to find one.

This would be the newer replacement to that series. May have an “X” in the model? I don’t recall for sure.

That does surprise me about the lack of parts for those models since they’re pretty popular and there’s so many still around, but it could be that they just expect you to replace the engine at that point. I know parts for the deck and drivetrain for those years 3xx and 4xx models are plentiful, if not necessarily cheap.

Here's the one I used, 23 HP. cooling fan on engine is not providing quite enough airflow, when it's hot outside I have to leave a side cover off.

Another way to go. http://www.shop.kustomlawnandgarden...B43-engine-rebuild-reman-core-reqd-JDO318.htm

Here's a couple more expensive options but read better reviews at the time on the B&S.
