Went to Big Boys this morning with a friend to shoot at 10 am. There was a wide strip of frozen over snow about 10 feet wide covering the entire front of the store. I had a knee replacement 3 weeks ago and it was extremely slick. When we went inside I mentioned it and some pink haired young fat girl said “nothing we can do about it, we don’t have any way to fix it”. We checked in and went to shoot.
As we were shooting, the same girl came out and reminded us that we couldn’t fire more than one round per second. Ok fine, I started counting one thousand one, one thousand two, etc as I was firing shots into a fist sized hole at 7 yards. After a while she came back out, obviously upset and told me I was still shooting too fast. I asked her if she had a timer and perhaps her time could be better spent clearing the driveway so customers didn’t slip and fall. She then told me to “pack my ****” and get out. I packed up and asked to see a manager. Some big old boy with a nose ring and I sat on the couch and had a nice polite discussion. I asked him if I should return to his range in the future. He told me things might be different next time, depending on who was range safety officer.I also asked him about the ice and he couldn’t or wouldn’t offer an explanation why it hadn’t been removed. Maybe I should have handled things differently but the list of places I spend my money grows smaller every day. Big Boys will never see me there again. Too bad really since it’s a nice range.
They obviously haven't figured out it's we that have what they want and not necessarily the other way around...

I have no problem with range rules. I’d like them enforced equally and the people who work there to have some customer service skills. I find it hard to believe that a range that hosts shooting competitions doesn’t have a shot timer if they are going to enforce a 1 shot per second rule. Her rudeness was among the worst I’ve seen. The list of places I spend my money grows smaller every day.

Let me tell you why this is.

Lack of competition! Really you look how many ranges there is within okc that are not ran by narcissistic Millennial types, overbearing gen x, or miserable boomers.

Big boys is just not where I can stand anymore, we usually go to Canadian ranges, and yes I know that old man can be ruthless at times, I just never had an issue with him myself, or anyone in our little group.

H&H I dispise with every fiber in my being, had one of them just being a jerk about a weapon I got telling me how it was garbage and he kept dry firing it...I just took my weapon and left...he was calling me a cry baby and other things as I left.

This is what it is for the casual gun owner, elitist now, with their 3000 AR15, 2500 ELCAN, cerakote in two tone, and then 1 mag of ammo?

They love, and I mean love to talk about how junk your stuff is, to prop themselves up....me?

I share my weapons at the range, because we all friends....nothing of negative goes on the range for me...its happy time!

Telling you all right now, there isn't anything better than a 13 to 18yo with their parent that gets to shoot a Kriss Vector. Its just fun for them, and that is what we need more of.

So many new shooters that as patrons of the range, we can help, or we can alienate them so they solidify their stance to us, and shop owners....this goes for you too.

There is a difference in talking to and talking at. Sure you gonna get that moron that has no idea, and flags you or whatever....explain calm and clear.

Good news, that guy is gone and is run by a lot nicer group of people. The last few times I went there which has been three times since Christmas it was a great experience.

It is even cleaned up a bunch compared to before they took over the range.

Well that is good for their future customers, I for one know that I can find better people elsewhere and since I got a taste of the outdoor range setting I just refuse to go inside again.

Heck, I’ve never been there but heard enough stories to remember Harry! Seriously though, my buddy has land that’s close enough that we can hear the shooters at the range. I really need to go check it out.
