Yeah their drivers are so lazy they leave the packages outside the gate for anyone to steal even though they have a utility code to enter or the ability to contact the homeowner through the gate control panel.
Agree 100%. They've left my Dad's meds just over the gate so if/when my Mom didn't notice the gate would smash the package when opened. They get dinged if deliveries take too long and most shippers get a big discount based on volume so the focus is more on getting the business than it is retaining it. There's clearly a gate code on the shipping label too.

I've provided local FedEx contact info to another OSA member having a similar issue. I'm realistic in that nothing will be done in my situation nor his.

I'm waiting right now for FedEx to deliver some ammo by the "end of day". Hopefully they come through before I have to leave for work.

I had a package requiring direct signature scheduled for delivery by Fedex on Tuesday. It weighed 60# and 6 foot long. On Monday I spoke with a local Fedex rep and asked if they could hold it in the shop as I wouldn't be at home most of the day. They gladly held it for me and I picked it up that afternoon.

I don't know the percentage breakdown but some will be pissed the item requiring signature was left without being signed for. Others will be pissed if it wasn't left even though nobody was home to sign. Tough to please everyone.

But it pays very well, offers great health benefits, college reimbursement, etc...
That is correct for UPS but Fed-Ex (at least in SW OKC area) are contract workers and not FE employees. I talked to one once about his job because I thought it was a great gig for someone. He pointed out the small writing on the side of the truck which said something like "Operated by XYZ delivery services". I have since started looking and every FE truck in my area says that on it. UPS does not but FE does.

He said he didn't get paid squat and is only doing the job to keep in shape. He was a young guy and said the drivers for FE that are the contractors like him are basically low paid with minimal benefits. Even thought they wear FE shirts, they do not work for FE. He also stated the drivers have high turnover since they do not work for who everyone thinks they do.

I am not trying to justify the poor service but wanted to point this out.

At least FE puts stuff on my porch. Amazon loves to leave it outside my garage door for the whole world to see.

If the customer request and pays for direct signature that is what the delivery person should do. Some companies allow signature waiver if you leave it on your door or in your mail receptacle. It is not up to the delivery person to obtain a signature or not. That is decided by the sender when they purchased the service from the company. The delivery person should attempt delivery to the door and if a signature is required ring the doorbell to wait for a response. If no one is home they should leave a notice and take the package back with them. Anything less is failure to provide the service paid for and or delivery person to do the job they are being paid for.

That's FedEx Ground who are contractors. FedEx Express are employees and seem to take their job more seriously. My ONLY gripe is with Ground. Express drivers have always been professional. BUT, Ground and Home Delivery are where FedEx has grown the most during the pandemic. I believe FedEx hired or wanted to hire 100,000 people last year and don't recall breakdown but majority were drivers.

EXACTLY! The shipper is paying extra and not getting the service.

One problem solved and hope I'm not going from the pot to the frying pan. Contacted wine shipper and they gladly swapped me over to UPS from FedEx so time will tell.
