Stay far enough from other peoples critters to not get bit. Somebody gets in my space they likely to be left with a mark also. I take my dog to Lowes, it rides the cart, people always want to come up and get in her space. I tell them to stay back and not stick their hand in her face or they will most likely get bit since she considers that to be rude. FYI, if somebody were to then hit my dog, it would look like the guy who did that in John Wick…

So the guy apologized. But I walked off before I ****** him up and I should done a lot of things differently but anger and conversions don't mix.
The overwhelming likelihood is that the dog does not have rabies, however if it does and you don't know, it could be a big problem. You could check with Atwoods, if they're smart they probably got this name. It's possible he paid for something with a credit card, if so they have his name but finding his transaction may be difficult or impossible. If you don't want to talk to him, I think you could report it to the police or animal control and they would follow up. If you don't do anything, you'll almost certainly be fine, but there is that small chance...

I never had any choice. Company policy required that I report it and see a doctor. None of mine were serious, a couple were only small scratches. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have a doctor look at a 1 inch long scratch? :rollingla

P.S. I never understood why people want to take their pets shopping with them, either...

Some things I come away with after reading this thread.
All dogs are potential biters. Therefore I dont want to expose myself or anyone else to that possible threat. As a former protection dog owner, to both bite and release on command (in German), it was mainly for around the house.
I dont feel the need to go shopping with any dog unless seeing-eye dog. Which thankfully I dont currently need.
I may take my dog to the woods but not Atwoods or any other similar place. House lap dogs may not be current on their rabies and I'd wanna know especially if seriously bit?

My wife and I were going over the thinks that, as far as we can remember, have bitten me hard enough to draw blood: Horses; Pony; Dogs; Cats; Rabbits; Squirrel; Mice; Pelican; Baby Alligator (broke some teeth off); Green and Sand Iguanas; Snakes (non-venomous); Turtles; Fish; Crabs; Stag Beetles and Katydids. It was ‘ALWAYS’ my own fault…..

don't even get me started on the ridiculous service animal crap I see.
Some of them are just BS "look at me, I'm wallowing in my weakness!" statement animals, but sometimes you can't tell by looking that the person does actually need the service animal. F'rinstance, years ago, we had an apparently normal student who had a service dog. You couldn't tell by looking at her, but she suffered from seizures; IIRC, the dog could pick up on them before they turned into a grand mal event, so when the dog hit, she could do something to protect herself beforehand.

I tell people who need access to my yard that I don't think my dog will bite, since he hasn't yet, but that he weight nearly 100lbs, and has a mouthful of big sharp teeth, so I don't want to bet on it. I will keep him in the house, while they do what they need to do, and there is a reason the gate has two locks, one each top and bottom.

Not hating on service animals that provide real service - epileptics, the blind, so on and so forth. Those are animals are awesome. I fully concur with you.

But if someone want to tell me their pet peacock is a service animal and they have to have that special peacock at all times due to their anxiety, they can $*&% right off.
