With all the talk about the armed good guy taking down the active shooter at 40 yards+/- this has some relevance.

From Jim Wilson

JULY 21, 1865...SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI...
JAMES BUTLER HICKOK KILLS DAVIS TUTT WITH ONE SHOT AT 75 YARDS.

THAT'S A LONG SHOT IN A GUNFIGHT. BUT WHAT IS REALLY AMAZING IS THAT HICKOK DID IT WITH A COLT 1851 NAVY...36 CALIBER...WITH THE BALLISTICS PERFORMANCE OF A .380 ACP!

Anyone doing that with a black powder revolver has balls.
I believe the statement from witnesses was 71 long paces.

I have fired an original Colt Navy. The sites suck and are not accurate so that is an amazing shot.
