On one hand this might not be such a bad thing...

“We will not be able to fully meet consumer demand due to capacity constraints,” Hershey chief executive Michele Buck told analysts during a Thursday earnings call.
...The problem, Buck explained, is that Hershey makes its seasonal candies and all-year-round products on the same manufacturing equipment, and demand for sweets in general has exceeded the company’s expectations.

Some of the trick or treaters might wind up like Charlie Brown: "I got a rock!"

Don't have any living in the sticks unless I specifically tell parents to bring them by. They usually do cause the little goblins make out like bandits when they show up. Last year had a little one after recieving his treats turn and tell his parents "let's just come here next year cause I got more here than all of town".

When my kids were young we had hundreds of trick or treaters.
The last 10 years we maybe have a dozen come to the door or even into the cul-de-sac.

I blame it on all the other houses that do not give out candy and have the lights off on the house.
People used to get pumped about Halloween and kids hit every house.

When I got married and had kids I seen a trend starting.
Some people would send their kids out but then turn their own lights off and not give out candy.

I would take off work for that Holiday every year because it is one time of the year when kids can get goofy.

I lived in Spencer for a few years and told one teen trick or treater that I hope I do not have any jackolanterns alive in the morning.

He asked what I was talking about.
I told him I hope someone smashes those things before morning to kill the evil spirits inside of them.

I figured that would give the kids something fun to do as I had 6 of them outside in the yard.

Yep all were smashed flat in the morning.
