Vehicle EDC…

I found a Pelican 1400 case in my closet that I used to have a camera in. Was going to just sell the case but thought I might be able to make something out of it. Was almost thinking of a small tool kit for the wife’s car.. or maybe a first aid kit.. any of y’all done anything similar before with a pelican 1400?

Of course I could just use the case as a pistol case but the 1400 is pretty good size with out the foam in it.

I have several 1450s that I use for different things, one of them gets all my important boat stuff/electronics and all. I use it as a dry box in the boat, and since it’s orange and memorable, I don’t forget it at the house. I’m not familiar with how big the 1400 is, but my only complaint is that unless you’re flying (it’s honestly a great carryon size, fits under seats and everything) it’s awkward and doesn’t fit anywhere well. At least in my crew cab Silverado.

I used to keep a pelican with a modest first aid kit, a sidearm, holster and a few mags, and some other stuff I typically keep close in my last vehicle, an SUV. It lasted about a week. I decided to do away with it. Pelican cases scream “I’m storing something valuable in an easy to transport package”. In spite of being easy to cable lock to the vehicle, I just couldn’t get it out of my head and eliminated the pelican case from everyday riding in the vehicle.

Funny thing--I have a Pelican 1400 sitting under my desk at work. I was thinking it'd make a good kit to go behind the seat of my truck. Maybe stick my Noco Li-ion jump starter in it and a few other tools.

You'd definitely want to keep it out of sight, though.
