It's interesting as a cartridge to me because of how it lines up with other stuff. In some ways it's the 6.5 Creedmoor's granddaddy with the 6.5 projectile ... where the granddaddy has a crap ton more case capacity for powder. At the same time, the actual brass is derived from another big boomer --- the 375 H&H which is also the parent for the 7mm Rem Mag. In fact the only difference between 7mm and 264 is .02 inches (7mm being .284 and 6.5 being .264).
It's almost as if the 6.5CM was/is an attempt to duplicate the 6.5x55 ballistics in a short action.

Or something like that.

Drove almost 4hrs south into Texas to pick this one up. It's a CZ600 Range in .308. I'll make a video on it as soon as I feel like sweatin my arse off to do so.

Found this little fella abandoned in a pawn shop. It called out to me and I knew I had to rescue it. So I filled out paperwork saying I was able to provide a good home, paid the fairly nominal adoption fee, and took it home.

It's not the most handsome, but behaves very well, is inexpensive to feed, and has quite the bark.

When I was a kid, my grandpa's hunting buddy bought a model 70 Westerner, probably 1958. He made his projectiles out of 6.5mm copper rod that he cut the ogive and length on a small tool & die lathe. They recycled ball powder out of 6.5 Swede mauser ammo. The bullets they pulled didnt perform well in thè 264mag but the powder did.
Vaporizing a coyote at a measuring wheel 650yds got his picture on the front page of the local paper. 264 Win mag is quite an amazing cartridge.
My grandpa called it the "earsplitten loudenboomer"
I had a Win 70 in the 70s in 264 Win Mag and it was definitely a cool cartridge. I dont have any idea why I sold it. Back then I just took it for granted some of the good things would disappear and be hard to find. I have had a lot of 7 mags and even had a 7 STW built off a Remington 700 7 mag. But ya, I have always regretted letting someone talk me out of the 264 Mag.
