Hey @swampratt. Have you played with the Swede any more?
Yes just yesterday I went and shot it.
I did have to remove some of the metal off the muzzle to get a round crown and not a square one.
There is a section of barrel that protrudes past the threaded portion.
I had to remove the majority of that and finally got a round exit. Not into the threads mind you.

I shot the same brass but I hand cleaned it and annealed it and did not trim it but I did FLS the brass and chamfer the mouth.

I then loaded it with 4 different loads and one that shot best was the 140 gr. A-max with H4350
1.8" at 100 yards for 3 shots with the iron sights.

It looks to have potential.
That load shot pretty low of maybe my hold was just low.
Those iron sights are fat.
The bottom 3 holes are the 6.5 140 load. The top ones are 30-06 180 at 100 and some 6.5 4064 loads at 50 yards.

I did not get to test my 4064 loads at 100 because the last 2 loads I made fell out of the box and got mixed up :(
I did shoot a 4350 load with 129 bullet and it was 2.8" group.

Looks good swampratt. BTW, if you don’t have the cap for those barrel threads, I got mine from Sarco. I think they had the cap, oiler, cleaning kit and sling for around $20. I’m sure it’s more now.
I’m going to shoot mine at the military bolt match tomorrow. It’s an untested load so I’m sure I’ll finish at the bottom of the pack! Just going for group as a test. I’ll adjust my hold and see if I can keep ‘em in the black.
140 grain a-max with 21gr of 4759. Should be a real powder puff

Probably a good call @dlbleak I have heard you need to shoot 60 or more rounds during a match.
I have no idea though.

So what is the distance you shoot at the match and what is the size of the "keep them in the black"

We shoot at 100 yards. All targets are 10 rounds in 10 minutes. We shoot two targets for group size and then three for score. The black is the 10,9 and 8 rings. It is nine inches across. The 7 and 6 rings are white and make the complete target about 12 1/2 inches across if I remember correctly.
The first target we shoot is a sight in or practice target. You can shoot as many rounds you want in 10 minutes at that one.
If I put the first couple shots in the 9 or 10 ring on the practice target, I’ll stop there and not use up any additional ammo
Hopefully that’s not to confusing.

After the main match, there is a supplemental target. Those that want to shoot the supplemental pitch in a dollar and the winner gets the pot. The last few months the supplemental has been 200 or 300 yards on an official sized target for that distance. It’s really cool to take these old guns out to that distance.
Last month my 200 yard target was my best of the day with 4 shots in the 10 ring.

Just to add to what @dlbleak said Jeff the match is shot with the rifle rested on bags......I used to shoot either my M96 Swede or my M39 Finn.

In the OKC area there are two matches held per month one at OKCGC and the other at TCGC in Norman......some folks shoot both monthly matches and you don't have to be a member of either gun club compete and the range gate is left open on match day at both clubs so that anyone who wants to can participate.

As far as I know they also still have a club competition at the end of the match season where the best shooters of the year from OKCGC, TCGC and Red Castle compete for bragging rites.

I think that the main reason I quit shooting the match is that it's so slow and takes so long to to actually shoot it.......when you figure you are given fifty minutes to fire 50 rounds then add in walking back and forth downrange to hang paper and BS'ing it darn near takes all of a Saturday morning just to shoot fifty rounds.

@Swamprat before actually shooting the match you could go on a match day to either club as a non shooting spectator to see if it's something that you'd like to try and to get used to the verbal match commands.

No I do not wish to shoot in a match I would rather go by myself to shoot paper.
I just had no idea what size a 10 ring was I hear people say I kept it in the 10 ring.
I figured it was 1" and Keep them in the black I had no idea what that size was ..again thinking 1" and
then I was thinking man these guys have great eyesight and darn sure can shoot.

I am just tickled pink to shoot an old weapon and try and make one accurate and put some meat on the table with it.
