Please, they are good shooters but we’re never mainstream. The 1911 didn’t take over the world. I know they are an historic piece but the .45 ACP never hit mainstream.

The Tommy gun gun is one as well, I have a couple Marines that we’re actually combat veterans and they don’t worship their 1911s, more trying to forget god rest one of them’s soul.

The auto loader never were considered here until the 80’s and I know most know this. The BG’s caused the changed as they started using them in the 70’s, Glock made the mainstream IMO, spin it all you want.

Lets let the Nam vets tell us how their 1911 saved em, I know there’s a few as their crappy M16’s failed, as they weren’t all that in the 60s either from those I know.

All of them are much improved IMO……..🤷‍♂️ I would rather have a German P38 as memorabilia from WWII….
As far as handguns go, I don’t think you could possibly get much more mainstream than a 1911. Not counting the 74 years of standard issuance in the military, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone with a decent collection of ten or more firearms that doesn’t own at least one. Not to mention that nearly every mainstream firearms manufacturer (Colt, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, SIG Sauer, and many others) makes a version of one. It’s easily the most cloned handgun in existence worldwide, even more than the CZ-75 and the Browning Hi-Power. If we’re going by the Webster’s definition of “mainstream“ here, it can’t possibly get any more mainstream than a 1911. It might not have taken over the world, but then again, no handgun ever has or ever will.

Hand guns were issued but wasn’t a main weapon in any war…. No handgun has ever been unless your talking pre 20 th century …. So give me me a link proving I’m wrong… it’s a weapon of the old west and before….just saying

Its your bug gun….even in trench warfare it wasn’t a primary weapon

Lots of history though like the GTO

Does everyone want 1911 today or has it a past hero? Certainly that….

I can post old crap of the 1900s as well, the fact is more people use a revolver today than carry any 1911

I’m just watching the high school kid running with the cool kids, you know the jocks😀

No disrespect but I’ve always been my own man…. And try not to disrespect people……… Although I fail at times and almost paid the price at times. This one is getting stupid
