My nephew has an 07 silverado w/4.8ltr. I think the motor might be locked up. I put a socket and 1/2" breaker bar on the crank shaft bolt and couldn't get the motor to budge. At first the bolt tightened just a touch and then I had a pretty good bow on the bar. Locked up?

over 200 foot pounds on that front bolt and it only takes about 25 foot pounds to turn an LS engine over.

I have seen stacked bearings in trucks and the cause is low rpm and loading the engine.
Used to to pull a load engines were turning 2500+ rpm.
These OD transmissions and highway ish gears really drop the RPM and it plays heck on main bearings.

Further information I received is that the transmission would shift before it died. Could that have something to do w/it? I can turn the drive shaft by hand when in gear. Yes, with the rear wheels off the ground. :)

When you say died, what are you talking about specifically? Crank no start? No crank? Dead battery hammering the solenoid then nothing? DRT, Dead Right There? No dash lights, no clicking when key is turned? What?
