Been building different targets for years. And recently sold a place that I had a range on and removed all the Targets. Have a surplus as I have another range that had already been set up. So been messing around cleaning and refurbishing these, and h ave finally came up with one that can take any big caliber at any distance and stay standing up and not walk at each shot. And be totally portable, as the legs fold up flat. I found a source for old Highway/Warning signs that have been hit, trashed, junked. I grabbed a few of the bottoms that had the big spring on the bottom. AR550 1/2” plate. 308 did not make it walk at 100 yards. The AR550 plate is mounted at a angle to deflect anything downward. It will not twist. The wood if hit protects the aluminum tube and can be changed out if shot up.

That’s a really nice set up. Although, I’ve been known to miss a time or two so I don't know how the plate would hold up if a misplaced shot had taken a large chunk of wood out of the 2x4. Would a T-post possibly work better? Either way, I really like the stand.

The upright 2x4 can take a few hits! You wouldn’t have no problems. And it is a 30 sec change out if blew apart. I wanted one that could be hit with big calibers and not knock over or walk and wiggle. I‘d love to see if a 50 could make this spring slap the target backwards enough to hit dirt at 400/500 yards. A heavy load 308 rocks it little at 300.

Good idea on the deflecting with a T-Post, aways down range on it.
