Well, it looks like we will finally get to get our of the Greenville, TX area. We had another good day with equipment yesterday, so we are departing the hotel in Greenville this morning. We will work throughout the day, and then towards evening, we'll check into one in Sulphur Springs, TX for a few days.

According to the wife, we now have around 1700 assigned miles yet to do, so we could be back home in 2 to 3 weeks.

Rough day today. Nero's been on a downhill slide for a bit. Took me all day to get up the nerve but he and I made the trip to the vet finally. Dawg sniffed me up one side and down the other when I made it back home and has not left my side. He knows. I feel like such a traitor, though I know it was the right thing to do. That's the pact you make when you get a dog. Your dog lives to love you. Im exchange you make sure when the time comes they don't suffer no matter how bad it guts you.

I had to have our last Shepard mix, that we'd had since she was a pup, put to sleep because of the complications of old age......my vet finally convinced me that I was not doing her or myself any favors by keeping her alive.

It was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life and it still puts a lump in my throat when I think about it......you never completely get over losing them.

When I have to do that for my friends, I tell them that I'll meet them at the Rainbow Bridge. And if they're not there, I'm not going either, since it won't be Heaven. I'm both hoping and terrified that I don't have to do this again. I've got a dog and 3 cats, none of them are babies anymore. I don't know that I have anyone who I can count on to do it for me if I'm not able or around anymore, and I don't really want to do it myself. Though I will if I must. Orca, the dog, is the only one here who always misses me, and is happy to see me when I come home. I'm a poor substitute for the mommy to the cats, but they all tolerate me, particularly when I have treats or gushy food in hand. ;)

Orca is 10, and I don't even know how old the kitties are, except that he was here when the two youngest kitties arrived.

So sorry, but I'm sure you made the right decision. He is away from pain and suffering now. God bless.

Wife and I actually saw a Bentley automobile for the first time ever....

....read all the way to the bottom for the irony.

Kindly ignore the finger in the last photo. That is what I get for taking pictures with my cell phone instead of a Nikon

The irony is that this vehicle was parked at a Walmart store in Commerce, Texas, a town with a total of just over 9000 people. Now, in all honesty, Commerce is home to one of the Texas A&M colleges, so during the school year, the population may be higher.

Or, maybe it belongs to a Texas A&M professor?

Good evening gang,
I have been tiling all fricken day. My back is killing me but the kitchen is almost finished. I will get up early before the game starts and do the grouting and then I believe I’m done. That is of course until the wife gets up. Lol.

I dunno nuffin' 'bout this kinda stuff but I'm about to learn. I'm done foolin' with contractors who don't do what they say they are gonna do, leaving **** half-assed and thinking it's good enough. My grandpa was a self-taught carpenter. I wish I'd paid more attention when I was a kid but it is what it is.

First order of business is to clean out the dining room, put baseboards in, trim out the picture window, build some ledges for the kittens to hang out in in the window and some shelving for some potted herbs. Then finish texturing the walls (thank God the ceiling is done; working overhead kills my upper back now), paint, put the table and chairs together and take stock.

I'd eventually like to replace that window but I need to crawl before I walk. Then on to the living room and entry way. Man do I have my work cut out for me. 😬
