.25-06 is an amazing cartridge. My 19 yo grandson loves his Savage.

Too many young uns hung up on "the latest and greatest" media hype. But, but, it is a "long action". I have long and short actions, in the field, can't tell a difference. Short action has ounces of advantage, IF you are building compact, lightweight. Cartridges, the longer wins.

There is a reason some cartridges are still popular after 100 years.

I have no use for the 6.5 CM, give me a .25-06, .30-06, 6.5x55, or .30-30.
Ha! 2 grandsons favorite cartridge is 7.62x54R. I don't know anyone with a CM.

I bought a 25/06 Sako Hunter grade back in the 80s put a 4x12 Leopold on it. Its a great shooting deer rifle, I really liked the 100 grn Barnes X bullet on top of IMR4350........

Yeah I think I’m going to hang onto the dies for awhile.. I may try to snag a 25-06 rifle someday.

Going to do more research.
Solid choice, while I have other rifles and they all shoot great, if I was going out west for something I’d have to take a long poke at, I’d take my 25-06

The .25-06 suffers from not being the "new hotness" that a few cartridges have developed over the past few years. It is still an extremely effective and flat deer cartridge.

Limiting factors include a little less barrel life, which isn't a factor for those who shoot 60 rounds to sight in and another 10-20 per year. Also, the availability of quality hunting bullets is less than the .243 and .264 diameter options. Plus, most factory twist rates were/are 1:10 (IIRC, don't quote me), but it does keep one from using some of the new, sleek bullets without a rebarrel to a faster twist rate.

However, the lighter recoil (compared to .30-06, .270 etc...) make it a dandy cartridge for younger, smaller, and less experienced hunters. Plus that flat trajectory and maximum point blank range is hard to beat.

My Ruger No. 1V, 25-06 Rem. Only my 22-250 77MKII is more accurate. Not going anywhere, and +1 on the comment about the latest-hotness thing. These have been and will remain around for good reason.
