Hey, so, thought I ask here since there are a lot of experienced tractor guys on OSA. New to the tractor scene since we moved to our property. Have a kubota L2501 25hp with HST. Noticed the Trans flund was really low so added 2 gallons to it. Still seemed low so when i was at the Kubota dealer i asked the service guy how much I should put in and he basically said, while looking through the fill hole to fill it up to where you can start seeing it. Literally a very vague answer. These tractors don't have dip sticks. Got another gallon of fluid and stopped filling about 2" from the top. Buttoned it back up and done. Well, go out to the shop today after work and there is probably a quart of oil on the floor under the tractor. Looked all around and find that the rubber vent for the trans case is wheeping/dripping oil through the breather tube that looks like a rubber question mark shape. Closer look seems the oil was probably filled an inch or two higher than the breather. Obviously over filled the case with fluid. How bad is this? Seems there my be a sight glass on these but havent found it yet and from what I've read, it is next to useless. Anyone have a clue what the correct level may be for the trans fluid? What damage could be done by operating with an overfilled trans? Thanks
could it be your front end loader was raised when you checked it? lowering the loader adds back that oil from the hyd cylinders

Maybe long winded lol. Because I think I've seen new tractor owners. I want to say be careful. Our compact is 40 hp and has a capable hydraulic system. That said it has more power than it does azz. 2017 and I have 585 hours on it, so it gets used pretty regular. A tractor to a country folk makes them quite capable of some feats you'd be hard pressed to do without. I often wish my rear tires were fluid filled, quite a benefit I'm told. As many times as I've had the back tires off the ground or on 3 wheels I could warm up to fluid filled. I love my tractor time. One day the hole I'm working on may be able to hold a few fish, which is the goal. That and having a hole the cows can suck from. Something I always pass on to the young that come before me . A hydraulic lever is like a faucet handle, the more you push the more fluid you allow to move. Becoming one with your hydraulics allows you smooth and safe operation. Let's hear more from you country bumpkins. 😁 Oh and dirt is heavy and wet dirt heavier yet 😁.
They sure enough are a blessing even though the county makes you pay personal taxes on them.
its looking good, thousands of ponds used to get built with not much more than a tumble bug behind a tractor if you contact your county soil office, they might pay part of the cost to build the pond, if no money is available, they will usually map out your pond and do the surveying for free. they also have information on how to build a proper dam, coring, required compaction type soils to use etc.

Interesting you bring that up. I have a tumblebug that was shop built back in the day by a relative. Actually hooked it up and used it one day. It moves an amazing amount of dirt.
May have to dig it out of the weeds and try it out again.

All functions were lowered to ground. Loader and brush mower. I was able to get about another quart and a half out and ran it. Seems to operate fine with no issues, etc.

Dont have pic wish I had came to house for camera. Was pushing mud out of water hole in creek got a little past center of creek bank. Dozer nosed over at a steep angle. Raised Lower part of motor out of water by pushing down the blade. Sawed two 4 foot long bridge boards & put them under front of tracks . Mashed them right down in the mud. Dozer would not back out of creek . Now I was getting worried . Next went got Massey 55hp 4wheel drive with loader. Dipped a bucket full mud. lined tractor up with dozer. Hooked a 20 foot log chain to them.. Backed tractor up about 10 feet put it in snail drive. Started dozer went & shifted tractor in gear . Got on dozer just as chain got tight put dozer in reverse. Rear tires dug down about 4 inches then dozer moved a little . Started slowly spinning tracks . Tractor pulled it out. Shifted dozer out of gear went and got in tractor Backed it up to put slack it chain . & put dozer & tractor back in shed.

That sounds like something my dad would’ve done, followed with a threat to kick my butt up between my ears if he ever caught me doing anything like it.
