Just paid for our hotel in Hawaii for our honeymoon. Going in mid may. Never been. Cool stuff to do? Suggestions? We’re staying in the Hale Koa armed forces recreation center resort on Honolulu. Definitely eating spam musubi from gas stations and all the bbq/seafood I can shove in my face. Gonna go see Pearl Harbor. Might spend a day fishing. Anything else? Anything to avoid? The wife loves the beach/ocean. I love everything.

Get a fishing trip booked asap. I went twice while in Maui. Was a great time

We enjoy the north side of Oahu, great food, much different than the Honolulu experience. Fish tacos at Duke's Waikiki, the beach is a zoo.

Pearl Harbor was a must for us the first time there.

You can spend an entire day or two at Pearl Harbor. We did and I can say it changed my life. Gave me an even deeper appreciation of what our people went through.

Dole was ok I guess. Kinda touristy for me, but my wife loved it. We got some good pictures and the train was cool.

Find some place that sells avocadoes the size of pop cans. Dear God was I in heaven.

Honolulu was so packed in, I highly recommend a ride share or cab to go anywhere. We rented a jeep and spent more time sitting on our asses in traffic, than we did driving.

We only spent 1.5 days in Honolulu then flew to Maui. That is where the beauty was.

Well if it wasn't your honeymoon I'd suggest girl watching (plenty of opportunity for that), but seeing that it is, ya better stay on the safe side and go snorkeling and fishing, maybe a helicopter tour. If you were going in the winter I'd suggest taking a trip to the north shore to watch the surfers ride the big (up to 30 and 50 feet) waves, but I don't think the waves are nearly as impressive during the spring and summer. The truth is Hawaii is beautiful with no lack of things to do. If you are having a hard time figuring out something to do just grab some brochures and take your choice. Have a great trip.

Dole Plantation is a big nothing but a potty stop and a bunch of junk to sell you. Skip it really.

Diamond Head now requires reservations to go there and it's OK with a decent view at the top but not one of my favorite things although have done it several times.

There is no volcano currently erupting so I'd forget that since you have to spend a lot of time and money to go there from Oahu and really not much to see.

Actually there is as much beauty on Oahu as there is on Maui but you should rent a car for a day or two and get out of Honolulu and drive to other scenic parts of the island. There are some beautiful beaches, water and green areas away from Waikiki.

Lots to do in Waikiki area. Great beach, catamaran cruises, outrigger canoe rides, major surfing, stand up paddle boarding, parasailing, mai-tai drinking, lots of live entertainment, great restaurants and lots of shopping of all kinds. Maybe helicopter tour if you like but I've never done it and I've never been fishing but worth looking into both if you are interested.

If you are staying in the Waikiki/Honolulu area I suggest walking or riding the bus if too far to walk. You do not need or want a car (or a jeep) to just look around the city.

Catch the bus to Pearl Harbor but you also must make reservations to take the USN launch out to the USS Arizona Memorial. Make them on line for a buck or something each. No entry fees into Pearl Harbor itself but also the USS Bowfin and USS Missouri offer tours but there is a fee for those.

We spent two weeks each year and mostly on Oahu for many years and never got tired of it.

If they still have the ferrys to the Big Island you need to do that. When I was there mid-70s the ferrys spent a lot of time whale watching.
