Why is Guymon not the hottest place to live right now?

Yeppers...

...I well remember those Pioneer Days celebrations. The wife (as a kid) rode from Elkhart, KS to Guymon for that parade. We had friends from Ponca City that worked rodeos as a clown act, and he had a mule that would kick beach balls when they were thrown at him. He asked me and a classmate to help him with that part of the act by chasing after the balls after being kicked. (That mule worked my tail off.)
Was that Sam Legrand?

Hooker Oklahoma. Wow what a blast from the past.

A long time ago, when I was in College, mid/late 70's, I was acquainted with a very nice and pretty woman from Hooker.

Let's just say she had a rather unique last name that, coupled with her being from Hooker, brought a lot of laughs and innuendos. She handled it well.

It's been a long time, I hope she's still around and doing well.

I stayed at the Hooker Inn several days ago. The owner is from Croatia, and he is an interesting character. He was a grumpy fellow at first, but he changed his attitude pretty quickly. He told me all about his paintings, and showed me numerous YouTube videos on Croatia. Never could get the full story out of him as to how he ended up in the panhandle. I asked if it was because of a woman, and he just nodded his head up and down.

Our friends were Clark and Arlene Schultz that were the rodeo clowns. Another part of their act was to work with de-scented skunks and an old "Bucking Ford."

By chance, there was a couple that got married in the church that I attend a good number of years back, and I was working the media booth (mostly lights and sound) and was talking with a gentleman that was related to one of those getting married. Come to find out, he was also related to the Shultz's and had the old Ford on his place. He also worked some with renting out old firearms for theatrical or movie projects. I just can't remember that gentleman's name.

I work in the Oil & Gas industry in the area. Not much oil. Still quite a bit of gas still.

I think there’s still a lot under there, it hasn’t been properly explored again with the technology we have nowadays. Last real big boom I think was the 70’s or 80’s.
I repossess semi trucks. I know for awhile that was a hot area for me. Damn shame we aren't exploring more now
