Don't think there is a lie at all. Any knowledge is useful, as is any training. What does make the difference is the experience, knowledge, motivation and training level of your attacker or foe. As for Physical fitness, emotional stability and intelligence that is always a factor. More of any of these is better for you.

The lie is the preparations for CQB have taken over for other prep because of the cool factor and the difficulty of it. A lot of guys spend a disproportionate amount of time on static ranges working with short rifles at very short ranges instead of any kind of distance. All training is great, if you can get it, get it, but I was asking more about the preparations side.

Didn’t really think about what if my neighbors right next to me decided they didn’t like me. That’s a whole different scenario that my wife and I haven’t faced our entire married life except when we lived in an apartment. We always had a plan to bug out at that point. But what do you do when your kids, prepping supplies and arms are all at a house in the suburbs? That’s a difficult question. Do you move your stuff or stay put and try to improve the situation.

Anyone in the suburbs have prep meetings with neighbors? My parents had a neighborhood prepper meeting when I was growing up, but northern Arizona used to have a lot of Mormons. Lol.

Thank you for clarifying, I am a bit dense at times (at least that is what my wife says but she's biased.) Unfortunately you are right, many do not practice at a 50 or even 100 yard range. Also unfortunate, most outdoor ranges in OKC are one shot per minute, you need to stay seated and only have one target you can shoot at.

I'm just a scum sucking fat civilian piece of garbage but would also like to gate keep this issue.
No matter what high stress situation you find yourself in you will probably with you had better gear, more training and a way out.
I really don't care if you like to shadow box while you watch Bruce Lee movies; at least you're doing something to be prepared and have your mind on it.

More importantly why would anyone try to justify why and how I train for anything to some random person on the internet lmao gtfo. Good way to get your dog shot.

It's good to have a wide range of skills, but I am NOT in a Seal team (Or any other high-speed kind of group), if I'm doing CQB in a SHTF or WROL scenario to try to take a pack of stale graham crackers, something has gone horribly wrong, and I have much bigger problems such as "I am starving to death."

I also am a filthy civilian, so I know nothing, and of course, this is all for fun. But, in the western half of the state, especially towards the panhandle, you can undoubtedly see 500 yards at any time and it feels closer than I'd ever want to see another human with a rifle wishing to do me harm. Here's a photo for context... That clearing in the picture starts at 200 yards and then where the bushes pick back up is about 350. It's just over 600 yards to the nearest road in that direction and I know the cars I have seen in that direction sure look close.

If there was cover and hills every 50-100 yards, then fine, get closer or get out of there, but in reality, we live in Oklahoma so it's flat as hell and there's a tree every once in a while.

I might not be shooting at extended distances because it's hard to judge intent, but I definitely want to know what is going on over there and it is not at all out of the realm of possibility in this theoretical situation.

What's the premise of your post? Are you asking? Or telling?

This has been discussed and rediscussed and rediscussed-discussed in several past threads, yet here we are again.
but bro, I just seriel watched seal team....kidding.
When i was younger i probably or did worry about such things. Now idk, prepared as best a mature gent can be, trigger time and physical fitness of mind and body are good things to do. I wont be storming a structure in my future. Distance is your friend. Shoot them ****ers from as far away as possible. Barrett far away :)
