Hello all,

I have recently started a laser engraving business (at a shop on my property) and am considering getting my FFL so that I can engrave firearms and NFA items. Seems that having a quick turn-around service for NFA engraving is something I could offer.

I've looked at the FFL application and dont see any issues. Whats everyones experiences with state and Washington County as it relates to an FFL application? I will be asking the officials but wanted to get some input. I dont have to worry city issues, fortunately. Thanks for your time!

I assume your business is setup as an LLC or other model with the OK Tax Commission? I think getting that setup was the biggest pain. It makes it easier to submit the FFL application as the business (or DBA designation).

If you're in the county and don't need to worry about zoning, etc. the process shouldn't be too painful. There will be a site visit for the interview and review of how you'll store firearms, etc.

My wife’s uncle has had an FFL for several years and told us at Thanksgiving that he’s letting it go due to too much hassle. The ATF agent that does his inspections only gives him an hour notice before showing up.

I've also heard that they're becoming more strict with having zero tolerance on various things that they allowed to be corrected on-site or during the visit.

Ok, thanks for the information. Im wondering if its worth it or not. Seems the general consensus is that most would pass. Maybe until a more friendly environment exists at the top.

You got that item correct just read through the new form 4473 that will be required in 23, yes it's planned to catch FF dealers in even simple mistakes and pull their FF license.
Biden is using the new BAFT guy to get rid of the firearm dealers and this will halt firearm sales he hopes.
