Allopurinol every day and indomethacin for flare ups. Haven't really changed my diet any and haven't had a flare up in a while. I suspect I'll suffer greatly when it comes back around...

Yep. I actually ended up ordering a UASure kit so that I can check my uric acid levels next time I feel a flare up.

Pretty painful??? Excruciating would be more accurate, at least in my case when I had it. Couldn't even stand to have bed covers touching my feet for nearly a week. It's been several years, but my doctor came to the house and gave me some kind of shot, and if I remember correctly, I was on oral meds for a few days. I don't EVER want to experience that kind of pain again!
Ok, I didn’t want to be a total candy ass but yes it is freaking excruciating pain and makes your life a living hell !!
I heard that certain foods like mushrooms, asparagus, shellfish, excessive red meat ( mainly pork) and beer would trigger it fast, whiskey, gin, vodka etc… was also bad but not as bad as beer?? And I forget the others but damn I like all that stuff.
I take endomethicin when it flares up but this last bout lasted about 3 weeks 😳, I do take lisinipril for BP, maybe I need to check into a new one ?

I vote Allopurinol.
Peanuts will fire it up
Too, I assume that means Cashews and Pistachios will too.
I have probably ate 50 lbs of peanuts in the last year plus pistachio and cashews. Haven't had a attack. But I take allopurinol.
Pasta seems to affect me more.
I quit the cold cuts, chips and gas station food.
I drink sweet tea all day but my tea isn't syrup sweet like most places make.
Everyone has different reactions for different foods
We don't eat much sweets unless it homemade cookies or pie and that isn't very often.we don't eat a lot of bread either. Lots of times it molds before we finish a pack of buns.

This is what I have heard. Never had it myself but I have hear eating a few Cherrys a day cures it
Not in my case.
One guy I know was told to drink lime water. That didn't work either.
If someone has chronic gout, home remedies are not going to get the uric acid levels under control.
