Being all GI parts might be part of why it's priced that way. I'm not sure when the last time SA made an all GI parts M1A minus the receiver.

The mid-1990s is when they started running out of USGI parts to make up a complete rifle. They were still installing some USGI parts until about 2005. I was lucky to acquire an all-USGI M1A where all the marked parts were SA - except, of course, for the SAI receiver.
