For us or the Taliban?
During WW2 the people liberated by the GI, loved him. Even the news media loved him back then! Now the news media HATES him, and the people he is sent to liberate, HATE him as well? Is this connected? The news media during WW2, refured to the American GI as, " OUR BOYS!" Can you imagine them doing that NOW? Did news people used to be Americans, before they went to school to learn to be LEFT WING GODS?

- Ukrainian troops are being trained in Poland and the UK on Western type military hardware. This has been an ongoing thing for several months, and was one of the sticking points about sending advanced weapon platforms to Ukraine because they (Ukrainians) didn't have the proper training to use them effectively.

- Zelenskyy is no better, nor worse, than any other 'stan' leader when it comes to human rights violations but compared to 'Mother' Russia, Ukraine is more tolerable.

- Some people think that we physically gave Zelenskyy billions of dollars in cash money. What we, and other countries have done is supply Ukraine with billions of dollars worth of older (and in some cases obsolete) weapon systems and ordnance which allows the purchase of newer, upgraded systems.

- Your tax dollars did NOT go to buy weapons systems for Ukraine, but instead to buy new upgraded weapon systems for ourselves to replace the older (and in some cases, obsolete) stuff we gave away. It's a win-win situation. We help support, what most of the world sees as an invasion by Russia into a sovereign country and we get to upgrade our own military hardware, which we needed to do anyway.

- When comparing the amount of help the United States provides versus that of other countries, you have to factor it on the countries GDP rather than on the dollar amount itself. For example in the US with a GDP of $23+ Trillion, $100B is a drop in the bucket when compared to Finland GDP of $297+ Billion where $100B is a comparatively large amount of money.

Whether it is actual equipment or $ it should be audited. There is nothing to prevent them from selling equipment. Assuming they gave M4's away at an average cost of $2,000 that is 50 Million M-4's. Also even if he training is in Poland, how do you think russia views it? this whole thing stinks.

I'm pretty sure that there are 'bean counters' somewhere keeping track, for what it's worth.

Of course there are, how else could they tell if they are losing too much on the laundering process, and that will never be disclosed to the public.

I would love to believe that "they" (the gov't and news) are above board and doing the right thing, but at this point I don't believe it. If you say I am not for this war, what is the instant response? "You are on putin's side and a russian colluder," and no further conversation. At least you have gone and found info that somewhat "supports" a just conflict. I do admire your ability to come up with "common sense" answers, but the politicians abandoned that long ago. I really can't believe anything the news is saying either after the bs on the vaccine, Trump, energy prices, economy is doing fine, environment, etc.

Thank you for the compliment TANSTAAFL. I seem to have been gifted with the ability to 'read between the lines', research, and ferret out facts rather than just take everything at face value. Unfortunately this ability has often led to some real doozy arguments with those that do just take things only at face value. I probably would have made a great 'investigative' journalist if they hadn't all been killed-off or retired for not getting with the program 😟

I've only had a chance to listen to about 15 minutes of this, but it seems apropos to this discussion.

I was watching a video a day or so ago within which the presenter was speaking about Russian arms and other equipment. It seems that he was stating that Russia had problems even getting tanks to start and run. He was also showing images of "body armor" that really wasn't armor at all and that their helmets weren't very good either.

I've heard similar reports recently, but I can't recall who said it. He said a lot of the Russian conscripts have helmets that are actually leftover WWII stamped sheetmetal with modern fabric covers over the top.

Yeah they've got quite a bit of outdated stuff. Most people don't understand how hard it is to keep a tank unit up and running smoothly. The logistics of it are a nightmare. I was an anti-tank in the Marines, Russians have some good tanks. Not as good as others but they just have a lot of them.
