So I'm a burger guy. I like good burgers but generally have to buy out for lunches. I usally get two double cheese burgers for lunch when I do get them. I found out about one I hadn't heard of today. A place called way back burger. They have something on their online menu not available in the store I was told. A 9 patty burger. 25 bucks, but I'm game to give it a shot. I hope its delivered by an EMT with a defibrillator though.

I do good to eat a Carl's Jr 1/3 lb burger and an order of fried zucchini.

Ok, funny story about food fails. When I got my first job out of college, we move to McGregor, TX, and our first Sunday there we visited the First Baptist Church. As soon as we got sat down, it was obvious the average age of the members was at least mid to late 70’s, and we stood out like sore thumbs being 22. The preacher and his wife were in their late 20’s, and before we could escape out the back door at the end of the service, they invited us over for lunch. Now let me say upfront, I’m not a picky eater, but this meal was a train wreck for me. The preacher’s wife was frying chicken (for the first time in her life) and doing baked potatoes. When the meal was ready, the “baked potatoes“ were sweet potatoes which I don’t eat (but did that day), and the chicken was still raw around the bones. The preacher and his wife were embarrassed, but they ended up being our best friends during our time there.

You remind me of this story I heard, I think on Hee Haw or somewhere....

About a family, and the wife was an excellent cook, and anytime they had guests she went way overboard and would serve several different kinds of meat, and a whole big spread of different dishes. Everything she cooked was great.

One day they had several guests over and she just slightly overcooked some of the meat. All through the meal, her husband kept calling it "burnt meat". He'd say, "Here, have some more of this old burnt meat." Or, "Pass me a little more of that old burnt meat."

Finally his wife got fed up with it and says to him, "Well... I noticed you sure didn't have any trouble EATING any of that old burnt meat!"

He looked at her and said, "Well, darlin'... if it hadn't been burnt, there wouldn't have been ENOUGH of it!"

:pms2:

That story always reminded me of my mother-in-law. She was kind of that way, and was an incredible cook back in the day. I can't really remember her overcooking anything though.

Well since St Patty Day is just around the corner- Let me tell you about Mom's Irish Stew.
Mom was a savvy farm gal, the second of 10 kids, then married my dad and had 7 of us. Needless to say, feeding a bunch cheap was always in order.
Irish Stew- potatoes probably 4-5 medium - 3-4 carrots- 5-6 stocks of celery- salt/pepper to taste -be careful cause the corn beef may be salty enough for some-- growing up we used the canned corn beef, but I have also used left over corn beef brisket/roast. she would cook it until everything was pretty soft and usually the can corn beef helps make a brothy flavor. When I cook a CB brisket- I put in crock pot with water and usually cook some new potatoes and carrots with it. I always save that broth and make this stew out of the leftovers. Little cornbread and your good. Mom would fix this at Christmas Eve when there would be 30-40 of us there. It was a family tradition for about 30 years and my nieces and nephews still talk about it even though mom has been gone since 98.
