Anyone Remember Outdoor America? Weren't their prices pretty reasonable?

Yes sir they were around for as long as I could remember , lot of people would ***** about the counter help which worked on commission but long before H&H was a thing Fred Baker's was the place to go in OKC especially after SW Shooters went out of business.

I miss going to Outdoor America when I go to the city. I drove by there a while back and the building is just a shell now and appears to have been gutted.

On further thought there used to be some truly good gun stores in OKC the current crop is not all that appealing to me . Living closer to Tulsa I will go to Sports World but they are pretty proud of their pricing and most of the other Tulsa stores sell stuff I am not really interested in as they seem to mostly hawk AR's and Glocks

Went there a lot when I turned 18 and got into guns. The amount of guns they had lining the walls always got me excited. Being a young guy, I was initially treated like a tire kicker or possible thief. I remember a couple employees were particularly rude. They occasionally had some good prices on surplus ammo which is most of what I bought there. I only bought one hard to find gun from them around 2008 and never went back.

I never really cared when they closed. I guess the way I was treated as a teen gave a lasting impression. I felt unwelcome at a couple other stores as well, so that wasn't just them. Now that I can afford to buy whatever I want, I make sure I don't take my money to those who treated me poorly as a new gun enthusiast. Gun store owners take note.

Yep i remember going to this little gun store in Del City at 16 or 17 and looking at the guns. One day the police contacted my parents saying i stole a pistol that was on top of the counter being shown to the only other customer in the store. I never went back to do any business with that owner. I dont know what happened with the deal but I know it wasnt me if a gun got stolen.

I think I know the store, and I remember being "watched" by the owner the first visit. Probably because of instances like you describe. That quickly changed when I pulled out my credit card. I ended up spending a lot of money there over the years. I don't really blame owners for being suspicious. Just be courteous at the same time.

They sold guns usually at least 10 percent cheaper than anywhere sometimes 20 percent. It was just the sales people that were jerks so I chose not buy anything from them other than ammo that I couldn't find anywhere else pre internet days.

That is because old man Fred was a distributor for a very long time and not just a retail FFL. I always laughed when I would hear people complain about poor service , disgruntled retail customers didn't put outdoor America out of business. He died and his nephew didn't want to continue running the business , I miss Outdoor America Store it had its own charm to it .

Tri-City Gun Club is close but no air conditioning. lol
I was actually thinking about it. You can’t shoot 00 buck on their range though. Also, even though I have AR’s and AK’s I never shoot them (my apocalypse guns). Then, who wants to shoot outside in Oklahoma. Might mess up my hair. Lastly and most important is they have too many rules, geez. You must be a member of the NRA? I don’t like a business that wants to tell me what I have to do. With that said, I’m a lifetime member of the NRA, member of NAGR, and member of GOA. I’m surprised they don’t make you wear a uniform and salute.
Oh, you’re right about Gunworld. I went there to use the range and things have really gone downhill. They still have all the cases full of guns though. Time to find another indoor range.

You might be thinking of Southwest Shooters
This is correct it was Southwest Shooter that the daughter and her husband ran into the ground, I remember the day I went in and was looking at a new high power and it only had one magazine with it. They were taking the spare mags from the pistol boxes and then offering to sell them separately to the buyer.

That was the last time I went to the store and then it was gone probably a year later.
