My Trail Lite is in the mail headed my way, so I am now considering my .22 suppressor options. My only experience so far has been a Gemtech Outback.

For those who own Spectres, Prodigys, and the like, have you found the extra initial investment worth it over the cheaper Tac65-Mite variety?

Thanks for the input in advance!

I got a YHM Mite for my first suppressor. My goal at he time was to get in as cheaply as possible. There isn't anything "wrong" with the lower end .22 cans, but after have the opportunity to shoot lots of the other cans out there my recommendation would be to spend the extra money and get one of the higher end cans. My thought on my particular purchase now is that I've already spent $200 on the stamp why didn't I kick in a little more cash for a top of the line suppressor???? The difference between the sound of a low end can like mine and something like the SWR Specter is substantially , in my humble opinion, worth the extra money. I would also advise talking to your dealer and shooting with some people that have a few for you to try out, then making your final decision based on some first hand experience. MAS Gunworks has several on hand to check out, give them a call.

I don't mean to hijack the thread so I apologize in advance but I have a basic question.

I don't know very much at all about this subject and I would like to know if the suppressor affects accuracy very much from a quality accurate rifle like a CZ-452?

Also, where is a good place for me to start reading and researching this subject in general?

You might want to look at the Silencerco 22Sparrow. It has a unique cleanable design that eliminates the seizing issues found in some other cleanable cans like the Tac 65. It's full auto rated (granted, not an issue on your pistol).

I looked at one and shot it. I was impressed. I have a Pilot that I like on my Buckmark, but this will be my next .22 can.

22 cans range in price from $200-$600. The AAC element is one of the most expensive 22 cans out right now.

SWR spectre, 22 sparrow, YHM Mite, YHM Wraith, SWR warlock and several others are great cans and fit a certain needs.

I would recommend the SWR Spectre. They aren't cheap but they are one of the quietest 22 cans out in their price range.

We have several you can hear if you want to see what different companies have to offer.

Have you shot the Sparrow back to back against the Spectre? I've got a Spectre but have been intrigued by the design of the Sparrow.

Yes we have. We have one in the shop currently. It isn't as quiet at the spectre. I would rate it similar to the tac 65, quest or stratus in noise reduction.

The sparrow is in the low 120's and the tac 65 and similar tactical innovation cans are in the mid 120's in noise level. The spectre is under 120.
