If I had answers to every situation that "could" arise with shooting I would have so much money with the books and conferences I would be putting on around the country :pms2: this would be a guess but I'm thinking that most people will do more damage cleaning thier firearms than actual firing! running a cleaning rod down the muzzel, not using a chamber guide stuff like that. I've seen nickle plating flake off of steel but brass and copper as a base not much unless there were some sort of impurity under the nickle, with the computerized lines they have now the days of pulling racks of parts where impurities could effect the plating have all but vanished but can still happen it's not a perfect world.

The discussion about what you shoot in your rifle and the effects would be like discussing barrel break in procedures or a better battle would be religion! it boils down to this, if it works for you and gets you the results you want then by all means continue with what you know and are confident in but don't bash or downgrade others for their ways or beliefs. A word of caution is always appreciated if you had a instance of failure doing what someone is posting about but no need to bash that's kinda childish. Later,

Kirk

+1 :thumbup3:

I will try to do better in articulating my thoughts in the future so that I do not leave the wrong impression to others. I think Kirk's statement is right on.

On the topic on scrubbing bores from the muzzle end, The Garand Collectors Association did an experiment with that awhile back, and found that it doesn't really matter which cleaning rod you use. On the rifle they were experimenting with, they were pretty abusive as they could be while scrubbing the bore; bearing on the muzzle of the rifle, so that it was slightly bending during the entire stroke. On the rifle they abused it started with a muzzle wear of 2.0 on the gauge, and to get it to reach 3.0 on the gauge it took 66,000 strokes. And when test fired afterwords still held an 1 1/2 inch group. Pretty interesting write up. It was in the Spring '09 Journal.

Maybe you should go to the range and burn through a few boxes to relax. :) :fullauto:
I want to get out and burn some up but this stinkin weather here is killing me! Need to get my .308 re-sighted in since I've got the new stock on it. I'm itching to get out its not even funny anymore.
I do not think the intent was to change the thread from help to a product bash. It was simply an effort to maybe prevent a re-occurence of the same issue.

Heck, you may even get more support on your opinion than I do for mine...

Like I said, I find it humorous how sensitive some individuals are to certain statements.
Actually, I hope they take your view point and shoot more brass so I can have more Wolf! No, let me take that back... I wish I could get more PMC for the price I used to a couple years ago. If I'd known then what I know now, I would have stockpiled that stuff!

Anyways, I'll apologize to you as well. And you are right about the agreement thing, no one is ever 100%.

I think that is something that may actaully get 100% agreement.

As for the other, no apology warranted or expected.

Some of had trouble with wolf or other steel cased ammo in their AR's. Some chambers are tighter then others or the rifles chamber might be dirty. The steel cased ammo has a lacquer or other type coating on it. Some of that coating will stay in the chamber. It could cause a round to stick in the chamber.

I use brass cased ammo only but I also like to reload.

Sorry Kirk, I wasn't trying to jump down your throat. I apologize for that. Just fed up with the way the thread went. Turned from helping a guy out to product bashing, always aggravates me. Be like somebody saying he wouldn't have had a case get stuck if he'd bought an AR off the left side of the "chart".

If I could afford it, I'd shoot PMC all the time. But with my budget and as much as I like to shoot, Wolf or Silver Bear is the way I like to go. I gave up trying to find the components for reloading them. I just stick to reloading my .308's and pistols.

Same here it would be all I would shoot..

I find it humorous that people bash a particular brand all the time because they had 1 issue with it and try to get everybody to steer clear of it. So here goes my bashing of ammo. DO NOT shoot Remington green box ammo by Wal-Mart! This one time, I had a squib! It's the worst ammo EVER! See how that works? Just because your gun doesn't like it doesn't mean nobody elses will either. My gun LOATHES the Remington ammo - I've had 1 squib, 3 no fires (tried it in my other AR and also my mini, still no fire), and no consistent groups at all. My gun absolutely LOVES Black Hills and PMC - super accurate and consistent but at 2-3 times the cost of Wolf. So, for me Wolf is the happy medium between cost and consistentcy.

Ok, in all seriousness here, my AR's run smoothly when they are clean. That's a fact. I can't run more than 200 rounds through my LMT of ANY ammo before I have to run a bore snake with CLP down it. My Stag could care less. I know my guns, I know what works well in them. But I'm not going to sit back and let people bash a brand and try to get everybody to stop using it because a couple people had issues. Like I said, I hate Remington but for other people it works great so more power to them. I'm not going to belittle them and tell them to stop.

And just to make everybody happy - my Kimber will not shoot any Wolf ammo reliably. It just will not feed the .45 steel cased loads.

I respectfully will bow out of this argument now because my opinion doesn't matter apparantly.

:werd: My Savage 64F stove pipes Remington all day everyday. I always use CCI and a friend said here try this. Never again and I have not had a issue since the Remington ammo. It can do federal bulk and blazer bulk without issues.

It seems that guns are like humans and have individual personalities too... :)
