I don't even own a Title 1 AR. I haven't bought a long gun that didn't require a stamp in years. Now I'm thinking about an M1A, and the concept that I can walk into a shop and walk out with the rifle in hand is kind of exciting. Of course, it will require a can, so it will be half and half. Frankly, non-NFA stuff bores me.

I've got a complete pistol lower that I am going to part with if you want to go that route.
You can make an SBR yourself. No dealer required.
This is whats required:
2 BATFE Form 1's.
2 Photographs of yourself on the Form 1's.
CLEO signatures on the Form 1's. (If you're in Tulsa, this may be a problem)
2 fingerprint cards with BATFE ORI.
1 Certificate of citizenship form.
$200.00 "manufacturing" fee.
The usual procedure is to get a lower.
Have the lower engraved per BATFE regs.
Enter the information from the lower in the BATFE forms.
Send all the paperwork and money to BATFE.
Wait several months for approval.
When approved, get your upper and attach to the lower.
Have fun.

so if I have a registed sbr upper I cannot install it on any other lower beside the one i registed? help me out on this, i really really want an sbr now
Although I think I have heard of people registering an upper... It is common to register the receiver. In the case if a AR that is the lower. So, any uppers with barrels shorter then 16" can only go on that lower or a AR pistol.
