You only register a lower.

What this means is if you have an upper shorter than the BATFE permits, it can only go on the registered lower or a pistol lower. The registered lower can have any upper you want on it, be it 10" or 24".

Uppers never get registered.

So you are looking at $200 for the stamp for 1 lower reciever and whatever it will cost you to get it engraved.

Once again, after the lower is registered, you can put any length upper on it you want, but it (or a pistol lower) can be the only lowers you put an upper on with a barrel less than 16".

???

so if I have a registed sbr upper I cannot install it on any other lower beside the one i registed? help me out on this, i really really want an sbr now

The lower is what is registered. If you install a short barrelled upper on any lower that is not registered, it is a FELONY that carries 10 years in a federal prision and a $250,000.00 fine.

Couple ?'s on filling out the form 1.
If your lower is marked multi for caliber do you put that on the form 1 or do you put down the caliber of your upper? If you want to use the same lower and differant uppers of differant calibers wouldnt it be multi??

1 Certificate of citizenship form? What does this consist of and where do you get it?

Can you do the fingerprints on AFIS (which is the same form but doesnt have the blue lines) or do they have to be done on the applicant card with the blue lines? Anyone know what the BATF's ORI number is off hand?

Thanks guys

Along these same lines and on the "manufacturing" part, say a guy has an AK parts kits. Anyone know if it's possible to legally build it up as a full auto with the proper paperwork?

The ATF likes to see one caliber stated. I have heard of people getting away with multi but have heard they are really cracking down. Mark the caliber you will primarily on the gun. As long as that is the upper that stays on the gun the majority of the time then you are good to go. If you ever make a permanent change for some reason just send a letter stating such change

Can't really help ya on this one. The sheriffs office (at least the one in tulsa) could probably help you on the ORI number and cards. I think they are directly printing to them now

I have no idea what you'd put for caliber on the "multi" marked receiver.

You can put any other upper on your registered receiver as long as it is a "temporary" change.

The Certificate of Compliance form (Citizenship form) as well as all the other forms and fingerprint cards can be ordered on the BATFE website. It is basically a form stating that you are certifying yourself as a US citizen.

Some of the forms can be filled out and printed using your own computer.
All of the forms can be ordered from BATFE through their website. There is also a number you can call to actually talk to a live person and order the forms and fingerprint cards. If you print your own forms from the website, you MUST make sure that they are TWO SIDED. They will not accept a form that is blank on the back side.

If you order the fingerprint cards from BATFE the ORI number will already be on it.

NO, you can not. A full auto that can be individually transferred must be registered on or before May 19, 1986.

The only "new manufactured" full autos can be sold to Police agencies or the military. An individual officer can be issued one by their department, but they can not personally own one.
