The supreme court ruled that it was legal to convert the TC pistols to rifles and back again.

True, but ATF contends that the SC ruling only applys to the KITS that TC sold, not to any TC or any other firearm. Below is a letter from ATF on the subject from just a few months ago. I really think it is stupid, but these are the laws that we have.

True, but if the Alphabet Bandits ever wanted to press it, I think the SCOTUS would slap their letter down.

Yes, but I couldn't afford to be the test case. Like I said earlier, I think it is stupid. I think if the SC said it was OK for the TC Kits then it should be OK for ANY rifle/pistol. The law should apply eqaully to all. I just want folks to be informed of ATF's opinion and make an informed decision on what they want to risk doing instead of just thinking something is legal when it may not be. Once you know the ATF's stance it is up to the individual to decide if it was worth the time/cost to fight them. As always, YMMV

Oh no doubt. I agree completely.

"There's no way to rule innocent men.
The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals.
Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them.
One declares so many things to be a crime
that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws."
