How do you know who your examiner is and the status of the process? Is there a website? Who normally is the examiner on applications when the Major is the dealer? Thanks.

You can call the NFA number of 304-616-4500. You will need your serial number on the item you are transferring. When/if the person answers the phone, ask to inquire about the status of the transfer. They will ask for your serial number, your name and possibly the dealer name. If the status is pending you can ask who your examiner is. Good thing for you Major's examiner is usually Santamaria, who is one of the fastest if not the fastest examiner.

Thanks for the info, I may try to give them a call Friday. If they say it's pending then does that means it is in the examiner's hands? Cashed the check December 21st, any idea how much longer?

Our examiner is always Santamaria - she had been really turing them around fast - but there has been a lul around the holidays.

According to the BATFE, the examiner assignment is based on the transferor. I was under the assumption it was based on the applicant's last name, but it's not. This is good news to us all, since M3's assigned examiner is S. Santamaria. I'm not sure who MAS' assigned examiner is, I need to call Martin & find out, hopefully Santamaria as well. Let's all hope she can keep things on track & continue to provide us with a speedy (by comparison) turn around.

Major, did you have to sweet talk somebody to get the good one?
