Stay with CMI, they are USGI now, they also do supply Springfield their mags. 44mag is a good guy who will treat you right. You might want to visit http://m14tfl.com it is a great sight and you'll learn everything you ever wanted to know about M14/M1A type rifles.

+1 w/Stillhunter. I have a couple of the "W" marked mags from Cheaperthandirt and they run great. I also have two mags from ProMag that have run without a problem as well. Was a bit concerned but read some positive reviews by some owners (at Midway) and tried two. So far, so good in my M1A Scout.

I bought 10 of the South Korean mil surp mags that are supposed to be GI-spec. I have unwrapped 5 so far. One of them is a really tight fit, but the others are all OK. I got them for less than $10 a piece, so I can't complain. I ordered mine from Botach Tactical when they were offering 15% off all items.

You are pretty much guaranteed a good fit with the CMI mags, but hey, with these South Korean ones, I was able to afford twice as many mags, so even if a few don't work so well, I think I came out ahead.

+1 on CMI from 44mag.com. With the price of type 57 being so close to CMI, and knock-offs of type 57 mags floating around, just save yourself the headache and get the good stuff from a good vendor. I don't like the idea of having to use extra ammo to function test questionable mags.

Keep us posted on how they function...fit is one thing, but will they hold up to serious range time? If so maybe you scored a good deal.

The T57 mags I've used seem to be quite functional. The only thing I've read is that they aren't as durable as the GI mags.

I've never used any 25 rnd mags but 44mag has a satisfaction guarantee on there mags so you can return them if you don't like them.

I always have a hard time when someone will spend 500-2000 dollars on a rifle or handgun and then they want to buy the cheapest magazines available.
