I used rivets because Mikhail used rivets. How many of those firearms you mentioned have sheetmetal reciever 1mm thick? I've never heard of a screw build going wrong either and I remember reading about a guy on Gunsnet who actually stuffed toothpicks into the rivet holes and fired a few shots just to prove that there is not alot of stress from firing on the fasteners.
Use whatever you want but to me rivets just look more appealing on a AK build.
