I initially accidentally posted this on the general discussion. Here it is again where it should have been. Thanks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does anybody know of any good place to hunt hog in the Tulsa/Sapulpa area within 50 mile radius. Are there any processors in the Tulsa area that will process hog? Also, my reasoning was that a rifle would be cheaper right now due to low demand, but I am looking for a 30.30 or a 30.6 and can't find anything for under $350. Is that what I need to expect or do they actually have sales near hunting season? Even pawn shops around here want over 300 bucks for a used 30.30. Anyway, any and all information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Keystone wma has hogs. I've been out there once, and saw lots of sign. You might contact the area biologist for that wma, and the local game ranger. They might be able to help you out.

You should also be able to get into a Marlin XS7, or Stevens model 200 in 308, 7mm-08, or 270 (might find it in 30-06 but they are harder to find) for about 250 plus scope or probably about 325 with scope, and any of those should be capable of taking anything you'll find around here. Both are great guns if you are just looking for a good hunting gun no upgrades or anything I would go with the Marlin (better trigger out of the box). If you plan on doing any upgrading later then I would go with the Stevens since it has the whole Savage after-market behind it (Stevens is made by Savage).

In addition to those mentioned:

Maybe a little further than 50, but the Gaines Creek area of Eufala WMA (it's one of 5 units of Eufala WMA, along the south side of the lake), I have heard has hogs.

Also some on James Collins, a little to the east/NE of there. But there's not a lot on James Collins I don't think. Some though.

Also, probably closer, the Deep Fork WMA in southern Creek County is supposed to have hogs. I think there are parts of Deep Fork WMA in far east Lincoln Co. and far north Okfuskee Co. One map available online does show hogs along the Deep Fork river. This does make sense, being not too far from Heyburn.

I can't verify any of this personally; just hearsay.

Finally, complete speculation here - but it would stand to reason that the Okmulgee WMA *may* have hogs, being near to Heyburn and Deep Fork and Keystone. Possibly Gary Sherrer, too.

I can tell you there are not currently any hogs up in the Black Kettle lands west of Reydon. Was up there looking for coyotes recently and saw absolutely no signs of hogs in the creek or marshes.
