It appears the popular preference is to the blank rear. This is probably the direction I'll go as well. After talking with a good friend (& great shooter) & hearing an explanation of why he likes the blank rear, it makes pretty good sense. So, that said, anyone have a problem with a wide notch adjustable rear sight? Keep in mind this pistol is for USPSA not carry.
I run a Dawson fiber front with a black Bomar rear
My Dawson rear has been rusting despite keeping oil on it. They say it's cold blued. It also has some sharp edges.
Anyone tried the Heinie rear slant-pro? They list it as having a melonite finish and has slightly rounded edges. If you ever do a overhand slide release you might appreciate rounded edges on the rear.
I really like the Dawson's sans those few issues.

I took a file to my dawson's and then re blued them....problem solved.

I am currently using the Dawson FO front with the Dawson adjustable rear. My rear is rusting too with all of this sweating in the summer. I like the sights a lot though!
Who makes the skinniest FO front and the widest adjustable rear? What about widest non adjustable rear? I think I might want more sunlight around the front post.

If the oil you are using doesn't have specific rust inhibitors it won't do any good. Most gun oils do, but many regular oils don't. I generally use Mobil 1 to lube my competition guns, and it's not a great rust inhibitor by all reports.
To keep the sights from rusting you will need to use something like Eezox on them.
As for the sights, I am definitely a fiber front & plain rear fan. I like the front sight to be very narrow with a small fiber and plenty of black around it. For the rear I really like the adjustable Bomar-style sights (currently using the STI made ones), but the slide would have to be specifically re-cut for the standard Bomar. Olyeller could do that work if you wanted to go that route. If you want a larger rear notch you can just use a file with a safe edge to open it up on both sides and then use a Birchwood Casey Super Black touch-up pen to color it back to flat black. The super black pen is good to keep around anyway to touch any black parts up with.

Dawson makes a Bomar copy with a 0.130 notch instead of the standard 0.115, they also make fronts as narrow as 0.090, and I know there are manufacturers out there that make fronts as narrow as 0.070.
Novak makes a wide notch rear sight that's pretty nice. This is the one I was leaning towards but I wanted an adjustable. Too bad Novak doesn't make an adjustable with the wide notch.
I went with an STI adjustable rear (novak cut) with a Novak FO front. The slide is being cut & can't wait to get them mounted. I couldn't find a wide notch adjustable rear sight, every adjustable I looked at had the std. notch. I may open up this one a little, but I'm going to try it as is first.
