Hi,

The G26 is an excellent gun, it is solid, reliable, and durable.

My only issue with the G26 is that while it is small for a Glock, it really isn't small enough to be a pocket gun for 99% of people. In my case, my carry method for it was IWB and I have found that I can carry the G19 95% as easily. G19 has 16 rounds instead of the G26's 11 rounds.

My question to the OP is - how do you want to carry it? I would decide that first, then look for a gun to fit the role.

Good luck,

Alan

Alan - Good points on it being too big for most "pocket carry". Inside a jacket pocket is possible later in the year. Would go with a IWB holster. Had given some thought to an ankle holster (quick access is not a critical factor for me) but thought it might make me walk in circles.

I think if or when I decide to go to a dedicated pocket carry I will give another look at the Taurus TCP or Diamondback.

Hi R K9 J,

For jacket carry, I would think lighter=better.

I can carry my G19 in a Comp-TAC CTAC at about 5-5:30 without much difficulty as long as a I have a decent covering shirt. My only real gripe is that it limits your movement a bit.

I got honest with myself not long ago and found I was carrying that IWB perhaps 20% of the time and the rest of the time simply dropping a snub (S&W 442) in my pocket because it was so easy. I recently picked up a Kahr PM9 for pocket duty so I could have a couple more rounds (7 vs 5) and better trigger and sights. So far so good.

Good luck,

Alan

I carry the 26 most of the time.

Usually, small of the back. I'd like to carry IWB, but I have dunlap disease and that ain't real comfortable.

As to it being a good pocket pistol, I gotta say that it fits in my back pocket like a wallet. Takes a little to manage getting it out, but no one has ever seen it when I carry in the rear or side pocket. Don't do it often, but still easy enough to do.

As to capacity, I carry it it with the factory G26 mag and finger extension. Additional mag I carry is either a G19 or 17. I've recently been carrying that via a clip on mag carrier on the side of one of my pockets. Funny thing, I've been doing that for about 6 weeks and no one has noticed, not even a single question from my wife. Most folks probably figure it is a cell phone or something similar.

New guy here - take this for what it's worth.

I would strongly suggest try before you buy. I thought I wanted a 26 until I actually rented one & shot it. I just couldn't get it to feel right for me - even though I wanted it to. I ended up with an XDsc instead - about the same size w/ 13 rounds in the short clip & 16 in the extended one. I knew after shooting the first clip (again, a rental) that it was the gun for me.

Only differnece in the 26 and the 19 is a inch in the brl and a inch in the grip. most people but the grip ext. on a sub compact model leaving only one inch difference in the two guns. I would go with a 19. more rounds is always a plus. Remember if you cant shoot well shoot often I always say.

P.S. theres a reason 80% of L.E. use Glocks and its not just because they are cheap. Its because they work. The comfort of a gun is important but the gun working everytime I press the shot is more important.

Try one first (range rental, buddy's, etc).

My Glock 26 works great. As long as I properly put the sights on target, it's more accurate than I am. Cleaning has been rare, trying to get it to malfunction; that hasn't happened yet (900+ rounds). Opt for the night sights if you have that option in availability and budgeting.

It works just like a full-size Glock 9mm, except a shorter barrel and shorter grip. The two-finger grip; not a big deal to some people, but a very big deal for others. The shorter and lighter helps it to hide better, but for some carry locations, the width sometimes makes it challenging.

The Glock 27 is the same size pistol in .40 S&W. It's a snappier round with the same two-finger grip. Lock your wrist. For this one, definitely try before you buy.
