He should be happy they showed up in the first place.

If someone was in danger, they WOULD have acted... but since no one was in danger, they just get to watch.

They did protect the neighbors house though, who paid his 75 dollars.

This guy is also saying he lost 2 dogs and a cat and is saying that putting "water on the house" would have saved them. I'd take that with a grain of salt.

Have you seen your sign??? :)
Obion County had a proposal in 2008 to tax electricity service and use those funds to pay area fire departments for service and drop the subscription-based system, but for some reason it didn't pass. I'm not sure if it was voters or elected officials there, but ultimately Cranick and the voters created the situation.

There are 8 fire departments in Obion County. Five offer services on an "as needed" basis, while three require a subscription.

Even if a lawsuit came from this, I think its a pretty safe bet that the NUMEROUS cases regarding a police officer's (and/or department's) duty to protect could easily be applied to firefighters and/or fire departments.

(My opinion is in greater detail on my blog.)

Im going to assume this house was either out of city limits, or in a un-incorporated land/community. The house or background looked a little rural that why I assume the above. Regardless of that, the dept had a protection fee which i also assume most residents gladly paid (taxes or otherwise) they should have at least gave priority of the call to the protected ones.

Its unfortunate that some people believe they should have just fought the fire regardless. Where did the fire dept get their trucks, equipment, payroll funds etc... Somebody pays for that and this person evidently did not.

I bet he/they will think twice next time cause $75 is super cheap to save a home or at least try to save a home.
